MJ - Check the wiring from the harness to the gauges . . . make sure everything is snug. I have a vauge recallection of a disconnected blue wire that cause me to have the same trouble on my yamaha 200.

Is wiring harness plug inside the motor cover loose or unplugged? Do you have a master fuse on the motor?
Good luck MJ.

Every motor I've ever had has had an inline fuse alongside the power head. Check that as well.

Ok I have put full charged battery in the boat, I still have the same thing going on??

I have checked the fuse and it is fine.

I have checked all wires that I think should have power, and all I have is power from battery to square box on the motor, from the square box to the trim, I also have power in one wire in the big wire harness, Color is unknow as it is in the big black harness.

I have checked the blue wire as BS said, all is connected well at the gauge and the control box??

I hate eletric!!!!!!!!!!! I suck at it, and at this point I would rather sell then fix!

I hate doing things I have no idea how to do!

Anyone have a match?? >:(

MJ - Do you have a service manual?

if not . . . look at the online manuals . . . it won't have your year, but it has a troubleshooting section. Could be a key switch or neutral saftey switch or even kill switch?

MJ, this may be a silly question at this point, but are you certain the shifter is completely in the neutral position?

macojoe

I will go out this afternoon when it warms up, it was 30 overnight and its 39* right now, going to be cloudy and a warm 50 to 55* today, with a 10 to 15 NE wind

Well theres good news and bad news, I took control all apart and played with everything.
WD40) everything and NSS was ok and then I started playing with the S Kill Sw and that had a problem with not coming out all the way.
Cleaned it and pushed pulled and the thing turned over!!

Great all fixed!! *Put all back toghter and tryed to start, but was turning slow, jumped started and was a bit better, but I still did not get it to kick, when it went back to the same problem *>:( *No power to the helm again!!

So I played with the safty again again again and nothing???

Did it go all toghter??

But I was so pissed off I started to throw things and decided to wait for CB, he said he would come to help me with it, and I said it was all fixed, but he said he would take the ride any way. What a great guy wants to hang with the Maco!! :-*

I haven't told him that its dead again as he went out with the mrs tonight.

OK later

CB, Looking confused! It was a little touchy for awhile, thank god I bought the manual for this motor when I got it!!

10 pounds of wires in a 5 pound box :o

CB getting ready to clean the Bunker oil off *:P Note the smile on his face!!

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_239.jpg

and the clean up

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_240.jpg

And whatn do you know it works!! ;D *It ended up being the red wire from the CDI unit to the control box. Must be broken some were in the line?
We decided the best wat to deal with it was to just run a new wire right from the CDI to the control box.

Better then trying to tear the harness apart and getting into a real nightmare!!

The Boss is checking to see if all is ok!

My pleasure Bud. Now, it's Squid time! That boat should have some serious ink on the decks next week.

And BTW, the red wire was to the voltage regulator. Once we ran a new wire, that baby fired right up nice. A bit smokey after the long winter, but she cleared up and idled down just fine. 8)

Thanks, it was a 2 person job for sure!!

We had to pull the plug in the motor, and then run a long wire from the meter to me I would touch one end and CB the other end the control box, till we found the broken one.

Good thing CB can read the schematic!!

It took awhile to figure out what to do, and there were 10 wires to check.
