I am going to change the steering cable on my 18. Is it just me or does it ROYALLY SUCK to have to unbolt and remove the outboard to change a freakin cable!!! its too tight to get off without it!! Any genius ideas?

If you can get it unhooked from the steering column, can't you push some toward the back to give it more room? ???
I don't know, you might be screwed on that. ??? :-[

I had the same problem I had the motor bolted down thank god it was Sunday night and I had not returned the engine hoist. I had to unbolt it picked it up 2 inches and turn it about 30 degrees and the cable went in. It was easy because of he jack plate, no silcone or sealant involed......

Cut mine twice with a hacksaw. Then I got smart and installed hydraulic steering.
