I've got an '88 V20. Does anyone know the depth of the standard 60 gallon fuel tank for replacing the sending unit? I know I could pull the current one out, but I want to avoid the hassle of doing it multiple times so I can continue to use the boat while I'm waiting for the new one to come in :)

Most of the sending units are universal, they have a standard mounting flange and are adjustable. Should be a one rain day replacement with minimal downtime

Franco is exactly right! They are adjustable...heck, not even a day's worth of down time. I could do it in ten minutes! 8)

I've been browsing online, and most of the ones I've found are built to a specific size. I've found one that says it will fit 6"-24" tanks. That's enough, right? I couldn't even take a guess at the actual size of the tank, but I can't imagine there being a tank bigger than that in the hull. Or is my perception completely off?

You are correct....that will cover it. I have pulled one before and they arent but about 14-16 inch deep max. 8)

E, * I have an '88 also. * The tank measures 15-3/4" from the top surface (mounting flange surface) to the bottom of the tank. * I purchased a gauge from these people - *a little more expensive - *but the reports are very good on these units. * I havent installed mine yet. * It is a stationary vertical rod (hence the tank depth is very important) with a floating puck that moves up and down on the rod with the gas level. *
