Bearing Buddy Fix

Called the dealer I got my motor from to see if he had any BBs on the shelf and told him I'd lost 3...said he DID have 'em and suggested following sayin' he's done this B4 w/ good results: jack up the problem wheel so it'll spin freely...tap in the sides of the hub opening as you turn the wheel around...doesn't need much to close up the opening so it'll hold those Buddies in place...I ''tapped'' mine w/ a 3 lb hammer and ''backed-up'' other side of hub w/ a 10 lb hammer...haven' actually driven it around yet, but BB seemed to go in tighter...hope this works for some of you guys who posted you were havin' same prob...will keep you posted... ;)...

Cool idea!!!! Ill try it if my problem one comes off again. That is if the 3 lbs of JB weld comes loose. Holdin on good so far!!!! ;D

I had brakes put on my trailer 4 weeks ago and I wanted BB the dealer { the place i had it done is the largest trailer dealer in CT} said they wont sell them because properly installed and packed bearings there is no need for them and they are a waste of money. All they said every 2 years bring it in for a small charge and they will do them right.... I did the peen the edge on my old trailer to keep them on....it works...Ted

Blu, I like your trailer dealer's confidence, but even at the relatively shallow depth a trailer wheel goes, there's enough pressure to displace even the smallest air-pocket...JMHO, but I gotta get that H2o outta the grease B4 each trip...besides, no matter how good that guy is, he ain't gonna be around when I lose a bearing on the side of the interstate :o ... ;)...so I'm gonna keep-on pumpin' ;) ...

Blu, if you don't do a lot of towin' it's not gonna be as critical...my shortest trip is one hour-plus on the "I" at 70 mph...I don't know much, all I know is what I've been doin' for years has worked so far... ;) ...good luck w/ yours whichever way you choose... :D...

when trailering, a couple of miles at least, your bearings will heat up and of course more so on a long trip. Then you back those hot bearings down into some cool water and you've got instant condensation/ moisture. I am no trailer expert,but IMO I'd stay w/ the BB without question

I do about 65 miles to the shore.....I wondering what to do, I wanted them in the first place....What do think?

I've had trailers with BB and had good results, but I bought a trailer 9 years ago with the Acculube system. The zerk fitting is on the end of the axel and the grease travels through the spindel and comes out of a hole just inside of the seal, When you pump grease in, it pushes from the back off the hub to the front. This is probaly not an option so I would definately go with BB over regular dust caps.

Phatdaddy's system is the way to go, when startin' w/ a new trailer, but, like me, you're dealin' w/ existing stuff...Blu, I look at it this way...no matter what kinda hardware you got on the outside of the hub, you still got a rubber seal on the back-side...even double-ring seals, sooner or later GONNA have some H2o get by 'em...when that happens, if you haven't provided a way to displace the water from the hub, things are gonna happen that you don't want to happen and that you could have avoided...BBs for me ;) :D ...
