Guidence needed. Discovered leaking problem. Lower motoer bolts leaking. I know this can't be good. Can I get away with pulling bolts. Use git rot and lots of 5200 to get me through the season?

I/O or Outboard??
If Outboard just losen all the bolts pry it up a bit and add lots of 5200 you will be fine.

Heck yeah...I'd pull those bolts, fill holes w/ 5200, replace bolts and go fishin'... ;)...if ya wanna use Git Rot , make sure wood inside is DRY first...

5200 it is. Will this hamper the removal of bolts it the future or just take a little more elbow grease?

5200 is a caulk that you can use below the waterline. Bounds super strong.

Hey Whopper,
Glad you found the problem. I would also pull em' one at a time, fill them holes, shove back in, and keep gettin' up.

Whop...almost hate to be the one to say it, but you're probably better to think of this as a temporary fix...once moisture gets in there, it;ll continue to spread rot over time...start savin' up for some fiberglass work... ;) ...

Yes the 5200 is a permanet fix!!
But if its leaking I would bet its because the transom is full of water!
So you have some work ahead of you!!

Pull the motor off and inspect the holes (and your transom) for rot. If the rot isn't too bad then you can over drill the holes, fill with epoxy, and "sleeve" the area. I'd try to avoid using 5200 for to seal out water . . . 4200 comes off a lot easier.

Just finished talking with my banker( wife ) to start a fund to pay for the new transom this winter when all the strippers are gone. I missed them last year not this one.
