As I was motoring back today to the harbor I noticed the left section windshield, underneath the hinge for the middle window section, has broken its fastening screw. The support strut is still in place but the windshield bounces as the boat moves. It moves around a quarter inch. It looks like you could put a screw into the aluminum frame into it from the inside of the cabin. I'm not sure what I would be screwing into though.

Any suggestions????

Thru-bolt with washer and nut. *
Wellcraft used screws with "wood" threads to hold the baseframe to the boat. * Remove the plastic weatherstrip from the baseframe of the window (get a small, thin screwdriver and pry it out). * You will see all the flathead screws that hold the baseframe to the boat. *Remove the loose screw(s) and in its place put a machine screw and secure on opposite side with washer and nut. *You may have to drill down thru to open up clearance. * The only drawback to this is you will see the washer/nut from the inside of the cuddy - *whereas Wellcrafts fastening method did not show thru.

when repairing windshields, as with most things, thier is a right way and a wrong way. heres watcha gotta do...

first- remove all ur windshields from ur boat

second- put them in a box

terd- ship them my house

last- watch the forum for my post with pics on how to proprerly install windshields.

the pics should make things much simpler. and no, i havent been drinking.

There is another option on the thru bolting. Lowes carries T-nuts in stainless. That way it could be through bolted in a blind fashion so you don't have a piece of screw sticking into the cabin.

Racer, check your IM's.

I keep having this strange dream were I walk into the hut of MaryAnn and Ginger, expecting a threesome.
I then look and there is Gilligan in the hammock with Mrs. Howell.
Then I wake up, what does it mean?

yes MSB. near as i can tell 79 and up are all the same. i just gotta figure out how to get mulv motivated. he's been real busy the past couple of months.

and paris, that is a simple question with a simple answer...
...you are profoundly and irreversibly screwed up!
