Added two more coats of Interlux Barrier/primer last night till 9pm. Finished up the deck today with the tuff Coat rubber non skid floor. Turned out great. Will lightly sand the interlux primer and finally put on a below waterline gloos finish paint. Suposed to be just as good as a gellcoat. We will see.

Thanks guys, been speanding alot of time taking two steps forward and 5 steps back alot. Been learning alot doing everything on my own here. Will send more pics when the deck is put back together and the hull finally painted.
Mulv. That Tuff Coat worked great, you must thin it out though with water and stir it really well. The deck really came out nice.

Hammer, is going to be the go to guy for info soon!!
I am going to be doing the bottom on my soon?? I have really no idea as I have a bad rotoe cuff right now that they say is going to take 2 months to heal :'(
But the son says he will have the bottom striped in a day with a friend!! and not only will it be striped , but it will be perfect!!
Thats right ONE day :o
So I told him I will give him 1 month free board if the bottom is striped in a day, or he has to finish the job for 0, he said ok!
Wow all that work and he isn't going to get a dime!! ;D

Really nice.
Those Lewes cops are everywhere.
Maybe we'll meet up some say at Irish Eyes or at the Pilot House. There is a group of us (about 10) that go to the bloody mary breakfast about twice a month over the summer. We are the rowdy group that they sit away from everyone.

Maco,
Damn - you are tuff !! I hope that son of yours shows up with rental machine for dry soda blasting that bottom. He'll be done in a few hours ... and wondering what he will do with the rent money he saved. You are paying for all materials consumed - right ? :)

Careful what you ask for... 2 guys w/ a 36 grit disc on a 4.5" grinder could turn the whole boat to dust in 1.5 hours. Bottom paint aint no problem if you get agressive enough.

Finally finished all the sanding and applied my first coat of TOP SECRET PAINT, that I heard about from Capt.Bent. The paint has a super gellcoat finish and shine. No brush marks as they promised. The only problem I have is the run marks. The company makes it clear to then it out and I did, but I have ALOT of run marks in the paint to say the least. Plus I was painting till 10pm last night with a spot light and alot of criiters landed and became stuck in the paint. I finally thought my sanding was done. I'll be doing a light sand job to the entire hull once again, add on a second coat and thats it !!. So hopefully she will be looking good/better by next week. Will be sure to post some pictures.

Went out and bought two gallons of stripper and stripped her back down. Paint wouldnt bound to the Interlux primer. I'm now thinkinking what to do now ??
Looks like bottom paint, or use a differnt primer, but would hate to spend more cash and the paint again doesnt stick. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I painted a 13 whaler with the rustoleum 2 part paint and it works great. About 100 bucks for a gallon with the activator. The neat thing was after i painted the outer hull with the white, i took the remainder back to the store and they tinted it blue for the inside. good stuff.

Tuff Coat: tell me some more about it. Do you use this on the deck? Previous owner put carpet snaps on the deck and some are missing, I want to remove all and fix holes and match to surrounding color (off white). I also have a couple of other fixes where I changed out a seat.
I have a 91 V-20 with the 5.7 volvo penta DP.

Tuff coat works really well. Just read the instructions first because I didnt at first. The tuff coat is thisk and you must add some water to it to thin it out. I used a gallon on the deck and ran out. Couldnt figure it out untill I read the instructions ;D
Covers up any inperfections. Down fall is that I think its to poures ??(spelling) holds alot of dirt, at least in white it does. Gonna paint over it with marine deck paint.
Good price as well. You could have it sprayed on as well instead of rolling it. Paid maybe $64.00 a gallon, thats with shipping. But Boaters World sells it as well. I;m not near a Boaters world though.

Just my two cents guys... I painted (brushed) the High Dive bottom with two coats of Easy Poxy one part urethane at least 5 years ago and have had no problems, no brush marks... (and no runs hammer) ;) I just wiped the bottom (which had the blue anti fouling paint sanded off) down with Acetone. Still looks great. Also I used West Marine's non skid paint on my deck a year ago last May or June, same thing, just wiped the worn deck gelcoat down with acetone like the guy at West Marine said and rolled two coats on and it too is sticking and holding up very well.

I'll try to steal the wife's camera and take a few. I'm looking to cover some cosmetic areas on the deck, but I want to stay with the white (off white) so it doesn't show as a new coat.
I'm just trying to get some good weather so I can go off shore and catch some tilefish, snapper, black seabass. I have a nice hole I found for 10 years ago. I have a bet that NO one has ever collected. I bet $100 that when your bottom rig hits the bottom you can't count to 10 without getting a bite. AS I said no one has ever collected.
Sounds like a good site to get a ton of info on how to fix about everything.

I painted the bottom of my boat with Pettit Sandless Primer and Pettit Vivid blue bottom paint. Polyeurethane primers cure hard and smooth and have to be topcoated before fully cured. I applied the first coat of primer and only had to wait about 30 minutes before it was ready for the 2nd coat. Then, I put on the first coat of anti-fouling 30 minutes after finishing the 2nd coat of primer. The 2nd coat of anti-fouling went on the next day after the first coat had fully cured.
I sanded everything down by hand using a DA sander and 36 grit paper.

You should throw a little Sikkens Cetol Marine Light on that wood trim, it will look great. Last I saw, it was on sale at West Marine for $20 a quart.
