Hey guys,
While I was working on my wiring last Fall, I noticed this hose that was disconnected on one end. It was near the hose to fill the tank. Please excuse my ignorance, but where should this end of the hose be connected? I'm guessing the other end is somehow connected to the fuel tank. Is this hose simply a breather hose? Anyway, here are the pics...

Steve. That looks like your fuel tank vent line. Probably be a good idea to get a new fitting to reconnect that hose and vent your fumes outside the hull rather than containing the inside.

Thanks for the quick response CB,
I sort of thought that's what it was, but I didn't know for sure (I'm still fairly green...). Yeah, definitely should vent it properly or else :o I'll take a look tomorrow to see if I can find where it was connected previously. Then, I'll run down and pick up a new fitting.
Say, with that hose just hanging the way it was, do I need to worry about condensation having made it's way down to the tank?

Not any more so than normal I would think. You probably do have condensation in your tank anyways. Don't loose any sleep over it. Just get a decent water separator filter and you should be good to go. ;)

BGA, I agree with Chumbucket on the filter/water seperator. The fuel system on most boats is called an open system, hence the vent. Your car has a closed system. The problem with condensation is worse now due to the ethanol fuel we are using because the alcohol absorbs water. A local Yamaha dealer gave a very informative talk about this at my fishing club a few months ago and it is his recomendation that due to the absorbtion rate of the alcohol in the fuel that you keep as little fuel on board as possible.

Thanks for the info 2ndchance... Thankfully, there's been little to no fuel at all in my tank since I bought it over a year ago... I do have a fuel/water separator, so hopefully it will catch whatever water might be in the fuel...

Not sure about the set up on the dual console model, but the vent on mine is mounted right next to the fill

I went out to check for the vent and only found the hole where the vent used to be :-/
I suppose this is a fairly common part that I could pick up at the local boat store?

The hose may cost a little more than $10 if you replace it, though.

Yes on the vent.
I have read that the water in your tank now mixes with th new gas and water seprator are pretty useless??
Because before they gas & water would not mix and they worked fine, but noe they can and will mix.
