I've got some system 3 "quick fair" that I'm using to fill and fair the crack that RB found. I applied a first coat yesterday evening. This evening I will go back and sand it down and apply another skim coat. Then next week when I get back from the beach I will sand that smooth and seal it up with some system 3 two part epoxy.

Here are some of the tools of the trade. Plastic silverware makes great mixing tools and applicators!
Note: I did not use the huge spackle. Should have known it wasn't right for the job ::)

The Crack - WARNING! CRACK KILLS! Note: This boat is no stranger to bottom patching. PO must have been a "shallow water fisherman" LOL. I cleaned and sanded it nice and smooth and then feathered on the quick fair. This stuff can be hand sanded in 3 hrs and machine sanded in 4 hrs. Hence the name "quick fair" ;)

Blue, you have any access to the inside of the hull where the crack is, if so, maybe thow on some cloth and resin.
So whats the final price you gonna let her go for.
Thats one nice V you have Blue. ;)

I did patch the inside with some of the quick fair but could not get a picture - too dark. I think its gonna hold up just fine once I'm done.

I did an aweful lot of work to her before I found the V-21.
She could be a real show-girl. I'd like to keep it and restore it one day but I think I'd rather restore a 16' boat first ;D

Ok, the new owner is supposed to pick my boat up this evening. *I got the crack all taken care of. *Even got a nice video in the process of me sealing up the repair with some system 3 epoxy and a "Bob Ross" paint brush *;D
Recap the process. *First I sanded down the around the gouge/crack. *I wanted the surface to be clean and smooth for maximum bonding of the filler I was to apply.
Here are the tools:
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/0410071841.jpg
Next I spread on one layer of System 3 Quick Fair and let dry. *The next day I machine sanded it smooth in preparation for a 2nd coat.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/0410071843.jpg
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/0410071857.jpg
The next day let dry and machine sanded it smooth again in preparation for a final coat of epoxy.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/0410071851.jpg
Apparently this crack had been there some time before Randlemanboater noticed it because it appears some water had gotten in and caused it to begin to delaminate on the inside about 8 inches. *The gouge/crack on the outside was only about 3 inches or less. *I made sure it was nice and dry in the inside and used the quick fair to fill in where the delam had begun. *No sanding here as this is a rough surface to begin with not to mention tight quarters! *After this cured for a day or two, I brushed on a thick coat of epoxy to protect the repair. *This is in the forward hatch in the cuddy not far from the keel:
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/0410071920.jpg
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/0410071920a.jpg
And last but not least, the video with narration ;D
http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/stinkery/?action=view&current=0416071940.flv
Now its time for her to go off to a new beginning. *I hope to see her around for many more years as the guy buying her is local.
Later ya'll,
Blue

He came on got her on Tuesday. I took a couple pix of which I have not loaded to the PC yet of him driving her off. He actually might sell her and has a guy interested already. Hes putting a 200 hp 20" johnson on there, so she should scoot!
I'll load the pix when I get time. I worked 14 hrs yesterday :( and problem is still not fixed. This could be a bad weekend. :-[
