Just wanted to see if any of you have heard of, or tried a product called New Glass2? I just did the first of several coats on my 1992 V20 C/C and it looks like new again. I can use my hull side as a mirror now! No sanding or polishing or waxing. Just a thourogh wash and scrub, and then wipe on a few coats. I did the entire hull from the rub rail to the boot strip in about 3 hours. Just waiting for the weather to break here to start on the inside.

Thanks guys. I'm in Wilmington, NC and yes I am a marina manager. I don't really have any good pics before, but I'll get them up anyway. Here she is before refinishing and christening in her slip. She was extremely chalky, like you get gelcoat on you from looking at it.

I used some stuff called Vertglas which sounds like the same stuff. You just scrub the boat down and apply several coats. How many coats did your need to get a even shine? Here's is a link and the pics they post are the same types of results I had and it will last a good year. I'll never use wax again.

The stuff I linked above which is the same as what your talking about will last about a year but the next year it takes less work.

The stuff I gave a link to has a kit with hull cleaner, soap to wash off cleaner, than the glass restorer and a aplicator. If it was me I would only buy the restoror and a large and small applicator. You can use soft scrub for the hull cleaner and dish soap to clean that off. A 32oz bottle and a few applicators will run around $65.00 plus shipping. The key to using this is to have the boat spotless because you will seal in any marks or stains in the fiberglass. It takes several coats 4 to 6 but they go quick with a 8 inch applicator. The 32oz should do the whole boat and you may have some extra. The next year will only require a couple of coats. I did my hull from rub rail to bottom paint in a couple of hours. I started at the rear and worked my way around and by the time I got back to my starting point it was dry and I could just keep going with the next coat. Here is the link again if you need it but I'm not sure which stuff works the best as they all sound like the same type stuff.

Welcome to the site BC.
I just rode by your work on Wednesday, it was rainning buckets. *We were on our way to dinner @ the Oceanic.
Nice V!
Where did you get that shine stuff? *I need some of that!

Did a little research on NewGlass2. Word is that the shine wears off quickly, looks worse than when you started and then is a pain to remove. Thoughts?

I have not had that problem with vertglass. Where did you see this info and did it compare any of these products. I will say if you do not apply enough coats and let it just go over time it will have shiny spots where the product still is and dule spots were it has worn off. It still is easier than waxing, mine last a year and then I need a couple of new coats.

I read it first on "Sailnet" which referenced a couple other sites. They did not compare, but did mention PoliGlow (www.poliglowproducts.com) I cannot vouch if they did it correctly with enough coats. Either way, it is still a lot cheaper than repainting or replacing gelcoat.

I don't know about the dulling, I just put my on a couple of weeks ago, but they do tell you to reapply 1-2 coats each year to maintain the shine as with anything it will wear off over time. I ordered mine off the internet. It was about 65 dollars with the stain remover cleaner and New Glass2. comes with all the applicaters and scrub brushes. No complaints so far.

i have to tell you that is one beutiful boat. It doesnt matter how old the wellcraft is its still beutiful i never get tired of looking at her but tell me what kind of wood the soecs and how did you make the pulpit I would like to do it to my steplift but i hate drilling into the top deck unless im sure it will hold up to pulling out and dragging out the anchor let me know if you can

I keep my boat in Bradley Creek Marina . I checked out bc's rig the other day and the pictures don't do it justice
That hull shines like brand new . His T-top set up is one of the best that I have seen.........

The bow pulpit is a little over an inch thick piece of teak wood. It is about 36" long so it goes all the way back to the splash dam that goes around inside of the bow and hangs out a little over a foot. I took out my bow cleat and got longer bolts so that it is still thru bolted in the deck, I used 12 more thru bolts, 6 on each side with a 1/4" thick x 2" wide piece of teak on each side as a backing plate with large washers in the rode locker. I also put in a closable rode chock so when the anchor is up I can screw the closure through the chain to hold up the anchor. I weigh 215lbs and I can hang and bounce off the tip of it when it is sitting in dry storage, so I figure that should be more than enough strength to hold my V20 when sipping on beers at the beach. I also took a couple of pieces of 1/4" x 2" teak and ran them down the center of the pulpit as a chain gaurd. It doesn't really do much, but I think it looks pretty damn good. I'll get some detailed pics up soon.

I made my pulpit out of 1 1/4" teak, about 36" long and 12" wide. It will hold all 215 pounds of me hanging off the tip of it sitting on dry land. Very tough. Pics follow here:

I have to remove it soon to refinish it. That's the only downside to using the teak, I'll get more up after the job is done.

It was the 70's, the same concept as party vans,
carpet the walls, floor, ceiling, seats, etc.

It is called a closed chock. It is used a lot on blow boats to keep their lines from tangling too much. The top bar is threaded, so you can screw it out and release the anchor. i set it up just far enough back so that I have to pull the anchor tight and just get the screw bar into the chain. It also helps when hauling the anchor because I can keep it closed while I'm hauling the rode, and it allows me to stay farther back in the boat. If need be, I can pull the anchor out while standing at the console, in cases when it is windy and I'm single handed, then I just tie it off to the T-top temporarily.

Just bought a 1984 v20 Fisherman and while it's in really good shape, there is a bit of oxidation on the her. Sounds like Vertglas is just what I need! Anyone have an idea of how well it holds up in Florida weather? Sarasota area to be exact...thanks

Welcome to the site!
You may not get a lot of responses because the thread is 7 years old. But someone did say you need to reapply it every year, just not as many coats on subsequent applications.

Like Poly-Glow, prep and re-apply every year in Florida. I find it works great and keeps hull staining to a minimum. Good luck and post a picture..
Note: A few folks have had an allergic reaction to Poly Glow as I recall. Wear gloves and follow the label. Welcome aboard

If Ridge likes it for the Florida sun, it must be pretty good stuff, cuz he's sportin' around in one of the "purdiest" V20s on the planet!!
