Should the fuel tank from an 84 cuddy cabin be able to fit in an 84 center console? I've got an idear in my mind and it may rest on this.

Ferm...this is a GUESS, but I would think it will, because the stringers are the same distance apart...if the floor is the same height, then I'd think yer good to go :) ...

I concur with Master REEL, noting that I think the console version had the tank in the console?

The one I'm lookin at has the tank under the console I think from looking at the pics. The fuel fill is in the gunnel, not the console.
Here it is.

Inconclusive was my search. In 78' they were under the console. Not sure on later models, but I think they stayed in the console, but that really is just a slightly educated guess. I've got 2 friends w/ newer CC's but can't get them on the phone. We can answer this for certain in the AM

Slot...I think we're gonna find the tank was never "IN" the console, but "UNDER" the console, IN the floor ... I think there has been a confusion in terms on this one ;) ...
WHOA!! ... just found Blue Lunch's Gallery...'74 CC he did beautiful full resto-job ... clearly shows new fuel-tank sittin' ON the deck...aw heck...here ya go...

Says "installed" and that's right where the console goes...so there goes the ''confusion in terms'' theory ;) ...

Guys I can tell you with great knowledge that my 84 Cneter console has the tank in the floor under the console and the fill is on the starboard gunnel. It is also of the capicity of 60 gallons.
In this photo you can see a gray line in the floor from the console to the cooler seat. That is one side of the floor hatch that covers it.

The tank in my 1983 cc is located under the CC and holds 60 gallons.

Hey Ferm,
If your plan doesn't work out, I know a guy with an 84 Cuddy who could use a gas tank. ;D ;D ;D ::)

Ferm, I don't know if a tank from an 86 cuddy would fit or not, but there's one for sale right now in the "for sale" section of the forum. If I had the money, I'd buy it for myself just to have as an extra...

Here's what I had in mind fellers. I have an 84 cuddy with a bad transom and floor(major repairs), but my tank is fine as well as many other parts. I found this one on Ebay about 3 hours from me needing a tank, was thinking this might get me on the water alot quicker, and I've been thinkin a center console would be alot more practical for my fishing needs. But I can't break away to go look at it before the auction ends :'(.

Just buy it site unseen, thats what I did. ;)
Maybe he won't get his reserve and you will get a chance to go check her out.
Or just buy it.

I'm rather cautious of the V-20's built in the mid 80's. EVERY single one I've went and looked at has had transom problems due to lack of sealing the transom.

Well, I guess I may not have to worry about a tank. It sold for $5100 to a guy in the U.K., this same guy also bought the other V-20 center console I was watching for $5995. I couldn't see spending more than $3500 for a 23 year old boat with a bad fuel tank myself. We'll see if the boats get relisted or not. Meanwhile, I found another center console with engine problems and no trailer for $1500.

Well it looks like I have a second chance at her, the deal with the guy in the UK fell through. I think I need to go take a look at it.
