I just replaced my fuel/water filter and now the primer bulb will not prime. I replaced the filter without putting any fuel in the filter, should I fill the new filter with fuel to get a prime? Sorry if this is a stupid question but this is all new to me with this fuel/water separator.
Thanks

Shawsee, I believe they recommend you do as you said and fill the the new filter with fuel and then install.

I have never filled one before installing.......did you put a little oil on the seal before you installed?
It should pump up unless you have an air leak somewhere, or a defective bulb.

Make sure your bulb is priming foward as it should.

Ok thanks guys. I did put some oil on the rubber seal. I did finally get it primed but it took forever. I now know that next time I will put fuel in the new filter before I even attempt to prime the bulb. Tomorrow is the "maiden voyage" and we are good to go.
Thanks again guys for your input & knowledge. This site is truly the best.

Thanks Randlemanboater. My two best buds and I are heading out to Point Judith Rhode Island. Plan on fishing the upper Narragansett Bay and Beaver Tail. I will make sure to take many pictures.
Talk with you guys tomorrow evening with a report.

best thing is put the primer before the fuel filter so you prime it as well with you are launching and it makes it easy to fill with fuel and let sit to soak in the fuel on new filters

Skools, is this what you mean for the primer bulb setup:

There was a thread before that talked about
keeping the bulb in an upright position.
With this setup, it can be mounted that way.

My bulb is after the filter ... it's pretty much upright and never hadda prob w/reprimin' after filter change ... as long as the system is as air-tight as it should be, it shouldn't make any difference ;) ...

yeah that's how i was talking but the bulb will work laying flat if you have no air leaks in the fuel system it will suck fuel no matter.

Thats the way my V was set up, before the fuel filter. I had a second bulb after the filter for the 9.9
