I started out just wanting to get the new samson post mounted and just kept going!!

I still have some clean up to do But It is looking much much better!!

Here is the old cleat, the rod under neath roted off years ago, and I felt that is was to small as I leave my bow rope and anchor chain on it all the time.

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_273_Medium.sized.jpg

So my cure for this was to yank it out and add this!

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_275_Medium.sized.jpg

I moved the post back to be able to reach better, Gee what happened to the 1" hole from the old cleat??

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_276_Medium.sized.jpg

Then I finished the old holes from the now missing bow rails

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_277_Medium.jpg

Then I have aklways hated this stupid Aluminum strip, its ugly, makes all kinds of noise!!

Also note all the holes from years of people adding different things. There were many many more but I forgot to take before pic, this was a old pic I had from before.

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_126.sized.jpg

So I removed it sanded and filled all the holes to get this.

I will take care of this area later, there is a old light bloted there that has not worked for a long time! But you can see the repair of the rest here also.

Now I was left with a clean and sanded gunnels, but I needed to finish it off some how, After talking to CB I bought this stuff and it worked great!!
It is like a row of aluminum staples covered in vinyl, easy to work with!! And looks great!

http://syncboard.com/albums/Boat-Tackle-Box/Picture_282_Medium.sized.jpg

And here it is installed!! Got to clean the boat a little, got some rubber marks on the side from the rubber mallet.

Thats my son the helper today!

Well thats it for today!! I still have to wire the rear light and the Tac, But I am pretty much done for now!

Also some time ago I added the Evinrude and had to change the Yamaha Control box, well the OMC box did not have a T&T button and Reel was nice enough to send me one.
I could not fighure out were I was going to put it?? But I decided to wire tie it to the control arm and it is perfect so I left it there!

I just bought a used Evinrude switch for the side of the motor, but it didn't work?? I think I got screwed with a bad switch :'(
And after I drilled the hole in the motor for the switch so the look is on for another!!

Chesapeake_dreamer here LOL I love the quick edge it's good for so many things. I also have lots of small mounting holes every where from previous owners. What'd ya use to fill them? Amazing good job there MJ,

I wasn't a newbie before I was erased.

Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha. ;D I was waiting for someone to look for a translation. It's the best when he's the one recommending spell checkers to everyone. ::)
Part one translation = I chose white to stay with the theme.
Who knew you had a theme going MJ? And if so, isn't that a bit gay? (that one was for you Charlie ;))
Part two translation = Sorry guys. I ain't touching that one. :-X ;D ;D ;D

If you're into saving cash, try your local electrical supply house and ask for quick edge. Same stuff but 1/3 the price.

Just make sure that it has the aluminum clips inside instead of the regular steel. I bought some years ago thinking the same way and ended up with rust stains everywhere.

WOW, looks great! That new cleat you have there looks like the one down @ the navy base that they ties the Air Craft carriers off of!
Now stop working, and go Fishing!!

Thanks chumbucket, I forgot to mention that. It also comes in colors and rust might be good if "your theme" included earth tones. ;D

Thanks guys!!

Screw you CB!! :-*

Ches, I used Formula 27, Its bondo for boats! Works great drys hard as a rock!

But it has to be painted over as it says it can absorb water, I just used Flat white Rustolem and it blends in OK for me, after a few trips it will all look the same. ;)

If you want something that doesn't need paint and you just have some small holes to do, then get Marine Tex.
But if you have a lot to do Marine Tex can get into some $$$

Edging cost $43 for 1/4 X 25', But I bet Ebay has it cheaper!

Thanks MJ. I have quite a few wholes and even some spider webs I have to attend to. One of the other medics at work use to paint in the navy and has offered his services. So, I need to get the body ready to go before we can prime and paint. I'll check the stores for formula 27 today.

spotailga
07-03-2007, 08:07 AM
I know what the sock is, but haven't been here long enough to know why your foot is swelling MJ. Not that it won't help with the swelling but I'm sure there must be something else you can do. Keep it on but let me know what's up and I'll come up with some good options to help.
