View Full Version : Gas Tank and Foam
Hi guys
I am redoing my V-20 and i have the gas tank cover off. I see that you guys recommend removing the foam. I want to do it how should i remove it with a scraper? Also where my ender is a screw hole has corroded. I was going to clean up the tole and plug it with some marine tex and just us a sheet metal screw to mount the sender.
What do you guys think
thx in advance.

Well it is recomended if you have to remove the tank, but if it anit broke don't fix it!~
Now if you start playing with it you might find yourself replacing the tank since you have issues already with the sender?
As far as the sender goes, I guess you fix will work, But I get rid of the sender all toghter if it was me.
My boat hasn't had a gauge in 9 years and I no miss it.
Good Luck !!

I removed all of the foam on top of my tank. I just used putty knives to do it. I also used a self etching primer to coat the top of the tank so as to try and inhibit corrosion. Look at the thread I did for hatch repair, it shows what I did.

i usually sharpen a wide putty knife and on a stone till razor sharp and then just scrape it all off and cut it outof the hatch hole as well.

I took my boat to a car wash and blasted out the foam with a pressure washer. Took about 10 bucks in quarters. Just make sure you don't get busted! ;D 8)
