Did you wreck that in the water or on the trailer?
Either way, did you get hurt?

Are hulls that hard to come by where you live?
Here in west florida, good solid PWC hulls are tossed out all the time. Heck, I have a complete Seadoo that ran great last time I had it out (2 years ago), perfect hull, was running motor, 100% complete, includes trailer, that I would love to unload for $200. Weather and sitting now has it looking rough. No takers so far after 18 months. I know couple people with perfect spare hulls that might pay you to get them out of their yards.
Edit: here is what a typical $400 (when I bought it) runs great PWC w/trailer looks like:

yeah i wrecked it yrs ago but figured i'd fix it and ride some this winter, it's not one that is made anymore this is an old 1982 Kawasaki 400 Standup, Spare you're just pissed that you can't ride a standup ski. I had 3 others at the time so i took the race motor out put in another hull, but kept the 550 race motor out of another for this one so the day i fixed it i would be ready to ride. i only have 1 of the stand ups running now. it's at the beach and has my fastest race mod motor in it. it was a 440 when it started life but now it's a 575 with twin 44 mm carbs and msd ign. it runs around 78 +/- MPH. going to fix this one play with it till spring then sell it. i hit the bottom of the ocean jumping waves before a hurricane back in 96 with it. thats what sand will do when your ski lands nose first. it sunk but i drug it in and kept it to remind me to be in deeper water lol.

I'm with you stinky ;D
the lake I use to work on was ruined by jet skis( iI refuse to call them boats), they would take over the ramp and pull wake boards thru the no wake zone. they followed every boat going out jumping their wakes. they used to get pi$$ed when I would run up behind them and jump their wakes with a 20 ft ski boat. At lake Tillery in NC, the land owners are pitted against each other because of the skis, from sun up to sun down, all you here on that lake are skis constantly running. you either have one or you hate them. Down here on the coast, they arn't too bad. I have seen them pull dock start skiers off the docks at the ramps, and they allways seem to practice driving in circles just close enough to the boat I'm working on to keep it rocking. Sooner or later they end up in an oyster bed "ouch". Yes I know they are not all bad, it just seems that the bad apples are drawn to jet skis. A friend of mine told me once that ridding a snow mobile in a safe and responsible manner is broing as watching snow melt, but cutting a fool on one is a blast. I guess it goes with jet skis as well, driving one around in a safe and responsible manner gets boring. But you know if i drove my V like some jet ski drivers do, I would get a ticket for unsafe operaton. I saw a ski at the boat show a couple of years ago that had a booming stereo on it(big 12" woofers), i walked up to the sales man with several customers around and told him I didn't think you could make jet ski any more annoying, but by putting a loud stereo on it, you did.

like i said spare you only hate them cause you can't ride them. i happen to own 6 boats and 5 jet skis and i hate other jet skiers, they all ride like dumbass's but the ones that own boats they have some sense to their riding. it's ok to hate them just remember the day your boat knocks off and the only guy you find is a Jet ski and he offers to tow you in then just better say no my dumbass will row. i've towed in boats with my skis. i went out the day after the last fall hurricane on my jet ski to find my poor neighbors boat that floated off the lift. i knew the jet ski was shollower and lighter to drag if i shall hit something plus less to fix if i hit a sunken item than my boat. but it's ok if you loose your boat don't ask a nice jet ski owner to bring it back just leave it lost. ;D ;D

funny you should say that Schools, several years ago, I was riding with a friend of mine in his boat test running a new prop, after a couple of speed runs, we were idling down a cove when the motor suddenly locked up(stuck a ring on a port, broke the top of the piston off). having nothing better to do, we started pulling the head off the engine while we waited for some one to come by for a tow. An aquantence came by on his jet ski and asked if we were OK, my buddy said were fine, just tinkering with the motor and waved him off. we had plenty of beer and it was early in the day, so what the hell, the guy on the ski was real good and proceded to put on quite a show while we just kicked back. A little later, another friend came by in his eliminator, my buddy said, it was OK to be towed by an eliminator, but not by a ski. Had we run out of beer, it might have been different.

My boss used to work for Sea Doo in the 80's/early 90's. *He was in charge of the development of the propulsion system, this included the inlet, pump, and nozzle. *He has some interesting stories including skis jumping out of test tanks with terrified engineers flying through the air.

Hey, what kind of pump are you running to make 78 mph? I've never heard of anybody breaking 65 mph on a 440 pump. The stock ones just can't move enough water. I don't even know if a 750 pump can push a ski much past 65.
Skools Out
09-30-2007, 12:19 AM
PJS race pump 440 style shaft so i can run aluminum shaft. it can be done you just have to spend the money if you are going to race you better have the best. it's been along time since my old girl was raced but she is still full race modified. they made a supercharger for the old piston port 440 / 550 motors. it was built by Parks Performance in Ohio.no you won't out of a 750 pump to big of an outlet. the 440 pump when bored was the best cause it had the smaller outlet to get more speed. use a JetSplyn output cone on a bored 440 pump and twin roller bearing set up you can acheive much more speed than with a 550 or a 750 pump. Parks had a 550 that ran in the upper 70's on fresh water. it takes a ton of motor to run those speeds and RPM's you need all parts lightened like the aluminum flywheel drive shaft and lighted welded crank. you will need a vari prop from 15 to 17 pitch. when you bore a 550 out to a 575 and then twin 44mm carbs, MSD Ign. and a supercharger you can get those speeds.

Now that is an interesting thought,
take two jet skis, cut them off and mount them like
brackets on the back end?
Tie them together like dual engines for steering.
I wonder if they would push a V ok,
how fast would it go
and what kind of gas milage you would get?

a friend of mine in Sneeds Ferry, NC used to build "Diamond Boats" he used some Kodiak pumps behind some gas and diesel boats, had good luck with them, at the time, OMC sold their V4 jet pump(like used in the Boston Whaler Rage, not the replacement lower units) package for repower, he tried them in some smaller boats but got much better performance out of a standard outboard of the same hp. The 27 he built with a Kodiak pump and a 3126 Cat was pretty cool
willy
10-08-2007, 10:44 PM
the pumps are sweet for low water conditions or for rock shallow water fishing such as river work. but you lose a major chunk of horse power so the engines have to be much stronger to give you the same performance as a prop. they are also subject to debris foul up to.
