Just repowered a V20 with a Suzuki DF140 (4 stroke). Anyone have an idea what might be a good 1st try prop? I've tried Merc's prop selector (works with all brands of engines) but came up with no results.

most here run a 17 pitch, that will get you close I am sure.

You have a cuddy or a CC??

I have a cuddy old and heavy and a 15 X 15 1/4 is the best for me.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's a 1988 V20 Cuddy.

I just hung my Johnzuki 140 on my '84 V on Monday. I have a 14x19 pitch aluminum prop on it. I think it will be close but I think I would get an 18 to start.

It worked well on my last boat, but it weighed about 700 pounds less.

If you can wait til Sunday, I'll tell you for sure how the 19 pitch works. ;D

Sunday is when I'll be back, as soon as the wife is done work, the kids and I are going to be sitting in the Pilot, hooked up and ready for the trip to Holden Beach. ;D

Well the Johnzuki 140 works great on the V-20.

I got a top speed of 35 mph @ 6400 rpm, which means I need a 20 pitch prop instead of a 19p. (Recommended wot rpm is 5800-6200) I had 25 gal of gas, 2 adults, 3 kids, lunch, 2 tools boxes, 1 battery on board.

4700 rpm was 25 mph, 20 mph was 3900.

It got out of the hole like a rocket and got better that 5 mpg. *I ran about 40 miles and used a little over 7 gal.

With just me and 15 gal of gas it ran 40 mph (GPS) at around 6500 rpm.....I am guessing on the rpm cause my tach only goes to 6K. I wonder where the rev limiter kicks in on this motor.

Anyway, drive it like you stole it, or rented it.
