If memory serves me correctly, not too long ago someone in our group was looking for a OB bracket. I found one on Craigslist in the Hampton Roads area. Hope it is helpful,

Kamikaze just posted that yesterday in this section...

That is a killer deal. I'm almost tempted to buy it because it's a flotation bracket. I just don't want to do the work...

Somebody really should buy it. These kinds of deals don't come along very often.

Just to add a note; he is selling the 200HP EVENRUDE - for $350 that is currently hanging on this bracket. Yes, he says it is running. Just thought I would let you know.

It looks like a good deal, but I'm not sure how it would bolt on my V with the splashwell. Would the top bolts be going through and into the splashwell *??? ???

Mentioned it needed carb work though.

I might need this. Right now I need some advice. I'm trying to get a 1980 V20 io that needs a flywheel, supposedly runs, and comes with a trailer for $1000. Not sure of the condition yet. The pics don't show enough detail. If all else checks out is the flywheel a big deal? If so should I look to do a bracket? I might regret this but you can check out the ad at http://newyork.craigslist.org/stn/boa/465398161.html Thanks for any input.

Called the guy, A bit strange to say the least. Not willing to send any additional pics.
Motor starts right up, but as soon as your out in the water, it seems its starving for fuel and stalls out.
Motor was rebuilt. Called repair guy look at it. All cyclinders are good and says its the carbs.

He sent me an e-mail saying that he will be showing it tomorrow between 2-5pm. I personally don't want to star in "the Perfect Storm 2" so I'll try after this storm passes. And yes, if I go I'll take pics ;D

No no, I'm on long island about an hour away. I'm going to do my best to go tomorrow. It looks like mostly a wind event for us and less so the further west you go. Just gotta figure a way to break it to the pregnant wife.

No takers on this ??? ??? ???
if not, I'm calling the guy Sunday and see if I can mail him a money order. For this price, it's an investment.

If it's not gone I'm going tomorrow. Today was a washout although I found out it didn't rain in the city so it might very well be gone. You'll know when I know.

Okay, more advice. I went to look at the boat today and committed the first sin on this board of not taking pics as my camera died and I was too aggravated to try and get it going. Anyway the hull is in decent shape, no soft spots solid transom and the trailer was passable. Usual wear and tear for a 1980 but nothing structural. Now the bad. The gas tank is going to have to be remoned as it filled with salt water. He has been using a portable tank this season. It does need a flywheel. Three teeth are missing from it. Also there seemed to be a lot of oil around the engine compartment. The price is right, $1000 for all, I just want to know what kind of project I might be looking at. I'm very tempted to take it anf throw a bracket on the back. Sorry for the long post but any help would be appreciated.---Mike

mp, if you're looking to bracket a full transom boat, you may want to consider the boat I posted about two months ago. It's an 85-87[?] hull, cuddy, sitting on a decent dual axle roller trailer. It has a custom cockpit cover snapped on it so I didn't climb inside to check out the floor or stringers, but the outside looks pretty good despite it being dirty.....I think she'll clean up nicely. The owner is an auto mechanic at the service station where the boat is parked. Spoke to him briefly and the 4cyl. Mercruiser 170[?] needs a new head or a valve job.....claims the out drive is good. Last we spoke he told me 1000.00$. I'm almost certain it can be had for less. I'd be happy to look into it further for you , or with you ,or if you just want directions to see it, shoot me a PM and I'll give you my phone #. If I had a larger garage or shed , it would be in there right now

phes, thanks for the info and yes I'm interested. I'm in Ronkonkoma so let me know when and where and I'll go take a look. Also, is it hard to find or rebuild these engines? I've only owned boats with outboards.

don't know to much about the I/O' s....never owned one, I for one, am an outboard guy and a v20 w/ a bracket is a nice set-up. The boat is in Kings Park just a couple of miles from the end of Sunken Meadow pkwy. I'll pm my # and give you directions....

Yo Phester, you been keeping V-20 pics. from us. Hook me up Bro. I need a fix. *;D
MP., going after a rebuilt motor and having it installed can cost you thousands, not unless removing and reinstalling just a flywheel and cleaning out the tank maybe cost ya $1,000.00 hopefully.

Used outboard motor, controls, bracket....maybe 4 grand or more.
If you go towards converting it to a bracket, those I/O v20's have a solid full hieght transom that is nice plus safer.
If I ever do another V20 project, it will be an I/O conversion. *;)
Keep us posted on what you decide.
