I just bout a 1985 V20 with a full transom and a bracket. Woo Hoooo!
$2700 and it will look almost new with a polishing!!! Some of the hatches need some beefing up cause they are soft though.

It's got the 18 gallon round livewell at the stern. Has anyone had any luck with these? It's below the water line and I don't see how it's going to drain properly without 2 pumps (one for in and one for out). I would rather not resort to cluttering the stern with a sto-bought livewell. Any thoughts. I need to turn over lots of water because poggies need it.

Next.... Boat has a 200 "zuki" 2 stroke with a bad cylinder. I'm selling my mako 20 with a 150 Yami 2 stroke to help spring for a new engine. What would you do put on your V20 based on experience?

Thanks in advance. This website kicks!

Most owners run between a 150 and a 200. Performace vs. weight is the concern. I am running a 150 2-stroke Evinrude and top out at 40 MPH. A 200 will get you to 46 or so, but are the weight and mileage worth it. Mine is a1988 rated for a 235, but new motors are heavier and would never go over 500lbs.

Anything between 150 & 200 under 450#'s will do fine.

Welcome to the site, yep better start with the pictures.
If it were me I'd snach the motor off the Mako and go from there.
As for the baitwell, the closer to the bottom of the boat the better. The hull keeps the water in the baitwell a more stable temperature.
Take pictures of that too. ;D

Here's some stuff on it.
Is that the baitwell?

I agree on all counts. Besides,..the Mako will sell easy even without a motor.

Thanks for all the input! Sorry for the delayed response. Here's some pics of the boat as is. "WhatKnot" is the graphic I created for my boat. If anyone is interested, I do high end graphic work and custom paintings. www.talwillis.com

Sorry bout the plug... but the boat graphics are top "knotch".

Going with my 150 ox66. The cost on a new power plant is wacked. Anyone want to buy a 200 zuki? Needs a cylinder job on #5. Other than that, it looks spankin.

Had a guy tell me these boats would sink like a rock because there is little foam inside. Suggested I fill it a bit. Whatcha think?

Also, scuppers out the stern. Good idea on this boat? I've always had them and right now it dumps to the bilge.

Thanks, My buddy has been giving me a hard time about the name. I think when the logo hits the boat, he might like it better. Hell, my mako was called "Skull Crusher", with a skeleton fish on top. He didn't like that either. But, now he wants me to call the boat Skull Crusher Two!

Welcome to the best site on the internet today!!

Boat looks good! 150 to 200 motor is what will work for you!!
Etec is the best IMO!

Now as far as pushing your graphic's Please don't tell us again about them unless first talking to me.
I am sure you are just stateing what you do, but anything but boats and stuff for trade or sale between members in the forsale section is forbided unless going thur mangement.

Thanks and enjoy the site!!

Sorry bout that. Point taken and respected. I would like to offer my services for boat graphics if I can. What do I need to do? Or is it out of the question?

Oh yeah, welcome to the board,
I don't need graphics, one of my best friends is a sign maker,
so I get lot's of stuff for free, like pre finished waterproff sign board.

HAMMER, that was the guy who was with me at the get together.

Small V-20 logos for our tow vehicles(after we send you a self addressed stamped envelope) would make us feel warm & fuzzy.

welcome to the site, i too had an older mako (74 19'). great boat , well built, & very wet. Once you go flair, you'll never go back.

Good idea Phat! I was thinking along similar lines. A new V20 graphic featuring a big tuna with a gaff in him and blood splattered on the logo would be cool ;D

Welcome whatnot!
