28 HP mid-eighties Evinrude outboard motor.
Compression on top hole is 105.
Bottom hole is 117.
Is this good or bad?
Thanks!
Blue

Sounds okay to me, your right at the 10% rule. I know my old 35HP has 125 on both holes.

Thanks Ferm and Spares, but this isn't my motor - I was looking at buying it if it checked out but after talking with Skools I don't think I will. Seems shady all the way around - not just the compression #'s.

When I talked to the guy yesterday I mentioned that I'd still be interested in the boat but not the motor. He said bottom dollar is $1000 for boat and trailer....then he said, "to be honest I don't want to fool with taking the motor off and I'll take $1000 for the whole package." So that tells me he sees no value in that motor! There were a bunch of other inconsistencies too...too many to list. Anyway I feel I checked it over good and made the right decision to pass on this one......thanks for you input guys!

BR, what kind of boat are you looking for? My neighbor put their 17 Spectrum aluminum boat up for sale, they're asking $3500, but I think they would take a lot less, I've got some pics if you want me to see them

SHOW ME SHOW ME!! *

I'm looking for an old style 15 - 16ft "bass boat" aluminum with flat bottom with front and rear decks, either a side or center console with a 20hp - 40hp motor. *;) *Prefer 30 - 40hp but would consider even a boat/trailer combo with no motor.

Thanks bud.

its a 93 i think, it has a 55 Force(by Mercury) on it. They haven't used it in two years that I know of. The Force is not one of my favorite engines, but at least this one has the mercury ignition system on it, can't remember if it has the Mercury lower unit or not. I'll send you pictures tomorrow( the're on my computer at work). The boat needs a real good clean up, the carpet is a little tatered, but not too bad. I'll get them to bring up to the house and I'll check the motor out

BR how is that other boat you were redoing?

Cool Spare 8)

Skools I've still got it. All I did was clean it up a little bit. The hull was water logged due to screw holes. I haven't tore into it yet. One of the worse problems is that the trailer bunks were real short and only on the back, this plus the mid section of the boat was sitting on a roller causing a trouble spot :( so I'm contemplating whether its fixable. I think if I can rig up a set of bunks on the ground, slide her onto it. Then I could tear out the floor, with the cap still on and slat seats still holding the structure. But I don't know what I'll have to deal with once in there. Also the glass on the whole boat seems thin to me. I suppose by design right? I might have a problem like Cpeak Dreamr ya know :-/ :o

I'll put up some pics and ya'll can tell me what you'd do.

No hurry spare...its a little far away for me anyway. I do appreciate you mentioning it and being willing to check out for me though. Don't worry about checking it though cause I think we'll find something local soon.

yeah I know theres much better to be had, but when you go this long without decent Que, you go for the closest one. That one in Lumberton works in a pinch. My personal favorite is Wilburs, in Goldsboro. Been years since I was there. DANG! now I really want some!

hey! wheres the hush puppy thread! ???

Blue_Runner
09-06-2007, 03:15 PM
I almost did it and then I thought, "that's probably dumb because hush puppies are everywhere aren't they? I mean where you have seafood restaurants there should be hushpuppies right? Its like chocolate and peanubutter isn't it?"

Now here in Lexington we might be a bit different cause we eat em with our pork AND fish.

I don't know, what do you think - do you think there are seafood restaurants that do not serve em?

If there is a Red Lobster, then there are hush puppies.

Not the real ones, but they'll do in a pinch.
