My mother owns a Honda Lawnmower which has been a great runner until now. My son cuts her grass and it stops running when it gets hot. Things I've done, 1-oiled changed 2-new spark plug 3-new air filter 4 - carb completely rebuilt. After a cool down the motor will start again and again die after heating up. What am I missing? bill Mc ;D

Mac, when you say "hot", could it be too hot, in other words "overheated"?...if so there may be an auto-shut-off feature to keep the user from blowin' the motor...make sure (you probably already have) under the mowing deck and around the motor shaft where the blade attaches is clear of anything that might put too much drag on the motor...are you sure the blade is proper size?...too large, too much drag...too small, too many rpms...just thinkin' out loud, but you never know... ;) ;D...

sounds like the piston is heating up and swelling. then it expands and won't run. After cool down it will be ok till hot again.
you will get the longest run first time of the day, then it will start again but will run a shorter time each time cause it heats up faster.

the coil could be getting hot then breaking down. Then you lose fire and motor dies. run it till it dies then take the plug out quickly while hot and put it in the plug boot and check it for fire. If it has not fire you must have a ignition issue.

Air cooled, single cylinder - when it was apart it was totally cleaned. I'll check the coil. It maybe time for a new one. Bill Mc ;D
