Can anybody tell me where I migh find info as to how to build a motor stand suitable enough to hold (2) 200HP V6 Suzuki's? I searched the net, but nothing came up.
I saw what Skools did; that was sweet, but I don't have the room or the desire to build a whole fence :P

hey brother i built one out of steel on wheels do you want to see it? it's welded together out of scrap metal i had lying around. it's built to hold all 20, 25, and 30 inch shaft motors.
hey man i didn't hear from you today what happened lol? can i pay it all now with paypal? will you tow it this way for a fee? tag not needed just have the title to say you just got it. not a problem.

I put one together w/2-4x6s (upright) w/a 2x12 positioned horizontaly at top(thru-bolted w/ 1/2'' bolts and washers)...attach bottom of uprights to two flat 2x6s and use 2x4s angled from uprights to flats for bracing...USE 3'' deck-screws to attach all...good thing about using screws is they are very strong and can be easily removed to dismantle stand when no longer needed... ;) :D...

Thanks guys, I think I will give Reel's idea a shot.
Reel, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of one of your creations, would you?

Oh, to be among the non-technicly-challenged...OK...got it on the computer in a file, but it won't transfer to PB...I thought I had this figured out :P...I've put lots of pics in PB this way and now it won't go...oh boo hoo... :'(...one little ''hicky'' I must be leavin' out... ::)...
PB tellin' me in red letters: P306001 not ''alowed'' type...WTF?? picky, picky, picky...

look at the file extension type. The file extension is usually at the end of the filename. An example would be "picture.jpeg" or "picture.jpg" where "picture" is what you've named it and ".jpeg" or ".jpg" is the file extension type. PB only works with certain filetypes and while I'm not sure of all the file types that PB works with, I know it works with jpeg files. So you might want to try opening the picture on your computer, click on file (upper left side), then click "save as" on the menu that dropped down, then when the window pops up where you name the file and choose the location to save it in, make sure the filetype below (right below where you named the file) says jpeg or jpg. There should be a drop down box that once you click it will give you some options. Hope that is a little clearer than muddy water! ;D

OK...I go to file that pic is in...click on ''file''...no ''save as'' drops down...I even tried e-mailin' it to myself, which assigns jpeg, but that didn't work...oh, woe is me... :'(...
Didn't MJ say he was puttin' 'em in ''Paint shop'', then to PB??...
I'd be quicker printin' hard copies and snail mailin' 'em out ::)

Alright...here's the freakin' motor stand!!...good grief ::)
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90/reelapeelin/motrstandjpeg.jpg
Anyway, Bygrace...hope this works for ya...casters are optional(already had those)...be SURE you make it TALL enough; this one for 20'' shaft only including height of casters...if no casters and it's gonna be around for a while, then 2 x 6s should be ''treated''...
Thanks Guys for the tech-help...at PB I wasn't ''browsing'' the file prior to ''submit''...details, details, details... :P...

WTG rap, we should start calling you Bill Gates now :D
Stand looks very good, nice job. Is there any flex on the 2x6's with the motor hangin'? Not to criticize your work but one thing I may have done different would be to have swapped the 4x6's with the 2x6's. The main weight load is right where the 4x6's are sitting on the 2x6's. The 2x6's on end (vertical) would be plenty strong and the 4x6's on the flat would carry the load better. If there's no flex it shouldn't be a problem, just an observation. ;)

Good eye, Tin, but no flex in the 2 x 6s due to 2 x 4 angles distributing load across the span...mentally turn the stand upside-down...easier to see how w/3 attachment points, spread along the length of the 2 x 6 doesn't allow flex... ;) :D...

Thats not good enough. You are going to have to submit ANOTHER picture of it upside down for demo purposes. ;D

Here's the new one i welded up out of scrap metal.
I've run some 225's on it currently holding a 200

Notice i welded on a piece to hold the motor straight so it will not turn and can start without it torque'in

lol Hey Hey i made templets this weekend out of cardboard for a V20 . I sat the Sea Ray ones in the V20 and they were way to wide but after much measuring i figured out how to make a set fit. i took the Sea Ray ones apart and got the plywood drawings off it.

Its like when you are lying in the lounge chair after cutting all the grass on a beautiful July afternoon. The barby is going and the wife has chicken ribs and burgers going and you can smell the sweet smell, you know its coming, soon ribs and seats ribs and seats ;D

Thank you buddy. I'll be putting your picture to use this week.
I really do appreciate it.

Just a follow up...
I built it about three weeks ago, but forgot to post the pictures. It's a bit too tall, so I'll make some adjustments later, but it's strong! I plan on putting both engines on it. Thanks again for all of your help guys.

Rev., that's a fine lookin' motor-stand...wouldn't change a thing!! ;D ;D...why too tall?...
Bygracealone
04-12-2006, 09:00 PM
Hi RAP,
There's like a foot or so of clearance between the skeg and the horizontal piece of wood (and that's on a 25" shaft). That would make working on the engine a little more difficult since the power unit is so high up from the ground.
Also, that middle vertical piece was cut, fitted, and attached since the taking of the photo.
Thanks for the compliment RAP and feel free to call me Steve or whatever ;)

Well on 2nd look it is a little taller than I thought... ;) :D...hope I didn't offend w/ the Rev. reference...we don't use many REEL names around here...just pick up nicknames...take the Grand Pubah for instance... 8) 8) 8)...

RAP,
No offence taken at all buddy. I just don't want you guys to think I'm some stuffy, holier than thou type of a pastor. No doubt, I'm a straight shootin' conservative Presbyterian when it comes to my faith, but I'm quite aware of the fact that I'm just like the rest of mankind: a sinner in need of a Savior...
Sometimes pastors give off the wrong impression by insisting that they be treated better than the next guy and insist on various titles because they somehow have a higher standing before God or something. Not so in my book nor according the THE book.
Anyway, I don't mean to preach and you definitely did not offend me. It takes a lot for this pastor to be offended :P
