I have a new Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 V-8 and I am wondering what everyone considers the best motor oil for a vehicle like this. It's been 15 years since I have had anything but high revving 4 cyl engines.

Any / All comments / reccomendations are appreciated.

Thanks

Carl

Lots of folks are goin' to synthetics with good results...Mobile 1 syn is probably the best in that group...if you wanna stay w/a regular oil, Castrol or Valvoline are hard to beat :) ...

Definately go with synthetic but wait until your first change is due, should be broken-in with reg oil first.

yeah Mobil 1 Synthetic is the best stuff for the job imo , just don't run Quakerstate that crap will fill a oil pan with thick sluggy crap.

i am a firm believer that whatever oil you run, stick with it. dont change brands. i run castrol in all my machines.

I use to be a Vavalean man, till my Blazer started smoking on start up.
Went with Castro and after 3 oil changes no more burning oil!! Cleaned the returns great! Sold truck with 200,000 miles and I see it every day still!

I use Castro 5w 20 in my 02 Chevy and it runs great!!
