FINALLY I WILL OWN A FREAKIN V8 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so tired of towin the Hooker and tractors at the hunting property with an underpowered vehicle! *:P
The body has a little damage which I why Im getting a sweet deal on it, but other than that it seems to be a sound, tuff little ride. Whatch-yall think bout Dodges?
Im pretty pumped!!!!
Go ahead, let the flaming begin!!! *::)

Welcome to the club. What size V-8? I got a 5.9L 360 cid in my Durango and it gets 11 mpg towing the V-20.

Its got the 4.7 in it. I would rather have the 5.2 or of course the fire breathin 5.9, but this one makes 235hp and 295ft lbs of torque. Thats a far cry from the whopping 175 hp and 170ft lbs my 4.3 in the Jimmy is makin. *::)
I just got it from the guy. I am goin to drive it to work tomorrow and tow the boat with it. I gonna pull the boat all over and make SURE its a solid ride. *8)
I like the feel of it so far and I REALLY like the power! Its a small V8, but a V8 for sure!!! It has a big truck feel to it for sure!! I like the quad cab too! Thatll be nice for the kids and for fishin buddies. Keep all my gear dry and comfy during hunting season too.

make sure the transmission is good Dodge had real issues with them on their gas models. I had a '99 Dodge *4x4 Quad cab but it was a Diesel. Great Truck just a noisy ride.

Got a '98 Durango. 5.2 V8. I like it alot. That should tow your boat with no problem. May yours be as trouble free as mine has been.

Hope ya have good luck with it Stink. My last truck was a full size Dodge Ram with the 5.9L.
Not trying to burst your bubble, but I'll never own another Dodge. :P Although I owned it for 10 years, they certainly weren't trouble free. Transmission constantly slipped and had it adjusted several times. Brakes? Where do I begin? Inferior at best. You will probably have similar issues that we've experienced with our Jeep Grand Cherokee since I believe many of the components are the same. Rotors warp in a hearbeat. When they do, don't waste your time with factory replacements. Get aftermarkets that are drilled and slotted to dissipate the heat. They're about 3X's the cost but will last a lot longer. Trust me.
I won't get into the crap fuel economy since you're happy with owning a V8 other than to say that Chrysler vehicles are among the worst in comparably equipped models from the competitors.
I will say that I like the styling. I certainly hope it goes well for you and wish you good luck.
Enjoy.

I guess it depends on what day your truck was built. I'have owned mine since 12/01 and the only thing I habe to fix was, the left front wheel bearing, output speed sensor and a tune-up. I never had a issue with the brakes, I towed the V-20 with no trailer brakes up till 3 weeks ago, the truck stopped fine. I don't know about the full sized truck but I get 15.5 around town and 18 highway with mine.....

Stinky, you made a good pick! In February I bought an 06 Dakota Quad Cab V8. It pulls my V20 just fine. Hopefully it can last as long as my 95 Ford Van which some people would have never owned. Billy Mac ;D

Blue, thas some decent MPG on the 360.
One thing I should make yall aware of is that I am SO SICK of having no power that I dont mind spending a little more $$ on fuel. I also only have a 12 mile trip to work everyday...roundtrip.
The other thing is that my Jimmy SUCKS on fuel...I am lucky to get 14 around town and the best Ive gotten on the highway is just under 20. Those 4.3s were never real efficient. I should know, I have owned like 6 of em. *::)
Which engine you got in the 06 Dakota Mac?

I was surprised what I was getting for MPG too. The truck has one of the trip/fuel computer in the overhead console it's easy to keep track of. I had a 89 K-10 6ft bed w/ 4.3L and a five speed brand new it was a horrible motor, having to go in 3rd gear towing a 17 footer over a 1000 ft hill to the lake.... I drive 31 miles one way to work but it's all highway thank god

nice looking truck Stink's. So Stink did your mom finally give you approval to have a V8 lol. ;D Be careful with all that power little guy, I'd hate to see Poppa Willy have to come bail you out for spinning tires lol.
I drive 4 miles to work everyday round trip :P Well till i buy this new house then i'll drive 14 miles round trip ugh.

Well I am probably getting it, but havent made the deal yet. The transfer case has issues....it sounds like a broke chain inside when you switch the 4wheel. He took it back and is going to get it looked at by a his mechanic. Hopefully itll be fixed and Ill have it sometime next week.
Im tryin to be patient...its hard!! I just wanted to keep her and hated to give the keys back. :P

I wish you lots and lots of luck!!
BEWARE of DODGE!!
I hate them and will never own another!! They are the worst on gas, and they always have something wrong with them.
And the big problem for the DYI guys is that Dodge has like 20 configarations for the dam thing!!
You never know what you have in it.
You haven't even got it yet and the transfer case is junk, I say run! don't walk but run away from this deal!!
In the 70's I started with Ford Cars, and had ton's of them!!
Then I went to Dodge, had ton's of them also!!
And in the late 80's went to Chevy and never looked back!!
Well once 2 years ago I bought a Ford again, and what a mistake that was!! I sold it almost 1 year to the day and bought another Chevy and have been very happy ever since!!
I will never waver again, GM all the way now! at least for trucks.

tough to beat a small block chevy! but, terms and conditions mean a lot. wish you the best stink. but if you were that unhappy with that 4.3, your gonna be pretty tough to satisfy. i always thought they were awsome little motors. especialy for a boat.
