I was wondering if any of you hard core fish eaters know how to properly cook albies. We have had some 20 pounders mixed in with amberjacks but no one keeps them. I do amberjacks with zesty italian on the grill and its ok once in a while but the boys down here say that albies taste worse than fish ducks..Anyone ever tried to eat one? Frank

I saw where a guy caught a new world record albie. I think it was 27 lbs? Saw it on the bassbarn. I think it was caught on one of their sponsor's boats.
Better weigh those Frank - might have had the state record at the least. :-/

thats probably right about the 27 being a record. Seems like down here they run in little pods of 6 to 8 pounders and 14 to 18. I weighed one yesterday that I thought was an easy 20 and he was only 16 and a half so I may be off a few pounds..They are so stremlined its hard to guess their weight like a striper or mackeral...Frank

I know a guy that makes tuna salad out of them, but he's the only one I know that eats em.

BWAHAHHAHAAAAA.
I caught some Bonitos. Cleaned'm and traded'm to the cook at a place I eat for a couple weeks worth of lunches. He's been serving'm up to customers as tuna steak. One guy sat next to me and complained about how crappy it was. I didn't say a word...just kept eating my grilled cheese samiches.
