Reel, I was just going to say the same.

If I remember correctly, it was green and he used it in lakes,
with great scenery.

Sorry about that.

Anyway, I would love to fish Alaska,
I subscribe to Saltwater Fisherman and some of the
articles they have on fishing there are great.

I was there back in 2001 (flew back on 9/11, but that's another story). Rented a Jeep and explored, beginning in Anchorage went to Homer, Seward, Whittier, Valdez, up 4 and over 8 to Denali NP. It was wonderful. Certainly feels like the Last Frontier. Everyone we met was very nice. I definitely want to return.

One of the things I want to do someday is to be a volunteer to help out in the Iditarod. 8)

Pipe, there's a Vet here in Sptbg who's run the "I" several times and still goes each year ... maybe you can hook up w/ him and go ;) ...

...and sorry I didn't recognize ya, Scooter :D ... is it true there are mosquitoes up there big enough to stand flat-footed and mate w/ turkeys :o ??? ...

the bugs can be bad at times!
I have freinds that are training a Ididarod team!
about 600 bucks a month in dog food
with about 20 dogs!

Yeah, Sonny King -- he started out as a volunteer race vet and caught the bug, had to enter the race himself!

Bugs -- it seems like anyplace I like (around water) bugs are a problem at one time of the year or another. But in September in Alaska we had no problem with them.

I lived in Ketchikan for 3 1/2 years. Traveled through Anchorage, Tok, Seward, Dillingham and Valdez. The fishing is awesome. I loved it there and I would go back in a heartbeat, but that is a long ways away from family. What the heck, I don't even like my family, what am I waiting for?

I recommend that everybody who has even the slightest desire to see the state, do it. It is unbelievable.
