Hey did you notice the eTech even gave the Yami the advantage of pulling with the current and it still couldn't hang. ;)

Check out ther dude's cheek flappin in the breeze!! I used to run a Donzi Classic 18 with 350 in it and while it never hit 102, it was a thrill to run flat out. Only thing is, that's all it WAS good for. Sometimes I do miss my eyelids being peeled over my forehead though! 8)

More torque yes! better hole shot yes, less weight yes, more dependable? less maint? as fuel efficient as 4 stroke? I doubt it & Im going to have to see that for myself before I believe it. These infomercials dont impress me & they really screw up late night tv. They can do anything on tv. I saw a dog talking on tv the other day on a Bush's bean commercial but I dont believe dogs can talk.
Johnson / Evinrude lost allot of their long time customers when they went tits up a few years back and left allot of customers holding the bag with warrenties that were worthless. They also were claiming the FICHT outboards were better than the 4 strokes back in Y2K and they turned out to be CRAP! They are going to have to get some of these ETECH's out there and prove their worth before they get some of their old customers back that went to 4 strokes. I hope they are all they claim to be but Im going to be a show me kinda guy on this one.
Roll that beautiful bean footage! ;D

I sure like my 4 stroke. I don't mind being a little slower in exchange for no pouring oil into the reservoir. I alway seem to spill it, then I end up with oil on my hands and I cant grip my beer......

I ALSO LOVE MY QUIET 4 STROKE, 40 PLUS KNOT TOP END. PLUS, LIVING IN HURRICANE COUNTRY, I HAVE AN 80 GALLON FUEL SUPPLY FOR MY GENERATOR!

I like my 4-stroke, too, but I think it's a foregone conclusion a 2-stroke's gonna generate more low-end torque than a 4-stroke in MOST cases...
...the powerhead of the Yam went underwater B4 she turtled...might be why prop no spin when ''tits up'' ... submerse an air-intake on any motor and she'll quit crankin' ;) ...

No doubt the 2 strokes are more powerful. Evinrude / Johnson needs to compare their etech's to othe two strokes as well. I think you will find the Mercury OPTIMAX motors outperform the etech's if you can believe the factory performance numbers.
Johnson/Evinrude lost most of their fan base when they went tits up a few years back and now they are flooding late night tv with infomercials that dont prove a thing to me because you can do anything on tv. If they really want to get their fan base back they should get their etech's out in the market by offering them at a more competitive price and then the owners word of mouth advertising will take care of the rest if they are really that good. The etech's are very expensive considering they are trying to get BACK their fan base IMHO.

Yeah an E-Tec vs Opti Pull-Off!! now that'd be your tug-o-war!! 8) ...
....but w/ all the old OMC thinkin' outta the picture and Bombardier's world-class engineering in place, I don't think they're havin' too much problem sellin' 'em... ;) ;D ...

Yea but the dealers were having problems with them and some dropped the etecs from their line. I'm wondering how loud they are compared to a same size 4stroke

Has anybody ever questioned two stroke low end torque vs. 4 stroke? I don't think that's why you buy a 4 stroke. Hook the ETEC up to a HPDI, Opti or other 2 stroke. I also love their statement, "no maintenance for three years". Take your etec to a dealer for warranty work and tell them you haven't done any maintenance on it for three years. Do you think you've got a problem with coverage right from the start? Like these tests have never been done before. You don't need professional drivers. All it takes is two of us rednecks and a case of beer and we're there buddy. ;D
