Sorry no response for a couple of days, been real busy. You guys remember part of my decision to sell Old School was that I had two best friends that had, or were going to have nice salt water boats.
Well yesterday I went to the 5th boat show with my neighbor best friend helping to find the boat he was going to buy. We found it and he pulled the trigger last night. Sea trial in a week or two. Going to be in a marina in Raritan Bay.

2007 Maycraft 2550 XL single 225 yammie four stroke, a live well tackle station thats fabulous rod racks across the hard top and most options available. Putting in over five G's worth of electronics, radar etc.
What a thing of utility fishing beauty it is, enough room to play ping pong in the cockpit, full opening windows all around the pilot house and an extended roof that comes back about five feet to get under the top when wanted.

Between this puppy and my friends 25 Grady down in Barnegat Bay I will see plenty of the salt after all ;)

Comes with trim tabs already, outriggers to follow, don't know about what he is going to do concerning auto pilot.
He narrowed his choice between the Parker Steiger and this Maycraft.
The Steiger came in second, mostly due to the fact that fishing things for the boat are all options, and it was 9G's above this boat and it was for the 23 footer. Their 25 has a foot and a hlf step down to get into the cuddy and you had to duck your head to do so, their 23 had the same floor height all the way forward like the Maycraft, making it easy to go forward to the helm but it was a 23, no where near as much room and all the fishing things like rod holders on the roof baitwells etc were all options, plus it was a notched transom. For a lot more money ::)
The Parker was sweet but we were all over the Parkers at three boat shows and were not impressed with a lot of things, and for the money they were asking, well it threw them out of contention at least to me. I think they are nice but for example the gaurd rail going forward you could flex with your hand back and forth. We got down and looked and it was a little screw that came out of each stanchion and went thru the deck and was secured with a little 3/4 inch washer and half inch nut. There were othe things but for the money they wanted for the 25 set up like this Maycraft which has a full transom, Full width Armstrong Bracket the bait station and hot tub sized live well and all the other accoutrements the price was almost 90 G's out the door. Those are some crack smoking f@ckers let me tell ya.

Indeed! In some ways it's even better than owning one yourself. You get all the benefits with none of the headaches or maintenance. Sweet.

We will do some tuna runs, but we have a lot of near shore good fishing here and that is where it will spend the most time, within 20 miles out I would think.
Yea now me and my two good bud's are set, I got the fresh water boat for all the great fresh water fishing that is literally right here. We will probably be doing a bunch of that.
There are three major salt fisheries areas in my mind for this area, Raritan Bay ( Sandy Hook, Roamers Shoals, the rocks and a bunch of wrecks, along with Staten Island side of the bay and the Verrazano Bridge etc. etc) and further south it is Barnegat Bay with two major fishing inlets, miles of shallows and sod banks etc. Then all the way south is the Cape May rips and environs.
We will have two of the three locked up with large boats and all the rivers and sweet waters locked up with my G3.
Actually not a bad set up. It is nice having a friend with the boat cause I could not afford such a fine machine and now I will get to fish one a lot. ;)
