Listen fellows, today was a very sad day for me. Due to the reasons most of you all know related to my recent surgery I had decided to sell Old School.
I went a few months with not much bite and the past week I had two nice gents, one from the left coast and one from the right figuring who was going to look at it and get it first.
Well a nice fellow (pictured below) named Kevin Whalen from CT. bought her and drove her away this afternoon.
He seems like a nice fellow and this is his first larger boat of his own and he will make a good addition to this family I'm sure.
I want to wish him good luck with Old School, she took good care of me in some occassionaly rough water and brought many pleasant memories. She also connected me to some good people and good friends here on this site, may she do the same for you Kev.
I don't know what I'm going to do for a boat now, first time I have not had one in thirty years. Leaning towards a Tin boat for the sweetwater around here but I am not sure yet.
GOOD BYE :'(

Damn Willy, thats gotta hurt. We all love our V's and we feel your pain. By all means stick around. I'm usually hanging around in the background and don't post alot, but I know you've been a major player on this site. V or no V your always welcome here.

Brother Willy. I'm confused. I thought Lisa meeting you in to A.C. was payment on the V for me :-/ . ;D :o
Dont go Bayliner on us. For now, kick back, relax and think about your next move. Being a body guard for franco. ;D You had one of the nicest V's here. Great memories and a wealth of information to pass on to us.
Stick around brother. ;)

willy , you did what you felt you had to do.....hope the proud new owner treats her as well as you did [ he looks like he could be your YOUNGER brother] Good luck, young Will, I know I don't have to say don't ditch us because you're V-less. Your humor, intellect, and input are always welcome here.

Crap... He looks like a nice guy. Now I feel bad about all the evil names I called him all day.

You did good Willy. Looks like you found a good home for your baby.

TunaHead (The Left Coast Guy)

(I'd make a comment about seeing you on the mothership but all the east coast guys would figure the California guy was waiting for ET or had seen Independence Day once too often rather than referring to a fishing trip)

Ain't going nowhere, found a home so to speak, besides there are still a bunch of you I have not visited yet

YENSEN.....I am here and this actually makes my second post but I have been quietly lurking for a few weeks. Willy said I have to speak up now.....no more lurking. ::)

Brother Willy (according to phester), I made it home safely. There is nothing like having your first towing experience as a 200 mile trek at highway speeds in rush hour traffic. It was my pleasure to meet you in person today. I will take good care of her.....Old School lives on. You have an open invitation to go fishing in Mystic, and like I said, I am sure I will have lots of questions so I'll counting on all of you guys to help me out. ;D

Now I have to figure out if I can get her down my driveway.....my neighbor was kind enough to let me drop her in his yard tonight......my driveway is steep and narrow.

willy
02-28-2007, 12:21 AM
Glad you made it safe brother. Enjoy her, she will get you in and out safely and dry. She always does.
These guys here are lunatics but they know their sh!t, saved my butt a few times and kept me from stepping on my Johanssen ;D

Sorry Tuna. :-[ Maybe we can think of it as me doing you a favor what with the hassle of shipping and all and explaining to your wife why you got a boat instead of her new car????

Phester, I was thinking the same thing. New owner looked like Willy, but a few years younger. Had to give a second look.
Whalen, you keeping the name Old School ?

This is a good news-bad news kinda thing. Sorry you had to give up Old School, Willy. I'm sure you can hitch a ride with anybody on this site if'n you needed to get a V fix. I know I'd hook ya up if you got down my way.

Welcome aboard Ken. I know you will enjoy the ol' girl. Don't hesitate to jump into the fray anytime you have a question. Now, I'm surprised Hammer hasn't hit you with this, but where are the PICS? We want to see her new home, the trip, anything. We need pics! Oh, and get a cooler avatar, we like bouncy ones or anything that moves, we are visual creatures.

Hammer.....I love the name and wouldn't think of changing it!

I'll do my best to get a pic or two soon. It was dark when I got home. My kids didn't know I was coming home with her so they were very excited to find out.

I'll work on finding a bouncy avatar. ;D

Whalen, welcome aboard. Old School had some good bloodlines, so you done good. Takes a while to get the hang of this site with getting setup with avatars and pic posting, but you'll pick it up in due time. Hammer can be bought of with donuts or panty pics, he's easy ;D

Whalenkm,

First of all as long as you're participating here it feels like Old School stayed in the family.

Second: Yup, the wife is a little happier now that Old School isn't headed west.

Wait a minute... Maybe I can work this to my advantage tonight. * Hmmm, how do I spin this?

Gotta go! *Wish me luck.

well whalenkm,

I think you just got a mighty fine taste of what it is like here. In the winter we tend to get a little bored and do stuff like post pics of our wife's panties. ??? Dont ask me Hammer started it.

Again welcome aboard, and stick around, you will learn more about that boat here than you ever would need to know ;D

Hey Kevin,

You forgot to mention that you just about ran outa gas too. :P Let me know when you want to get it down your driveway. We can do it later today - In Daylight! if you want. It is a very sweet boat. I have to admit - I'm a little jealous ;), but I now have something to strive for with my '78 V

C Yensen,

Yes to both questions. I let kevin know about the boat when found out he was interested in a purchase. The rest is history.

I have a '78 V-20 steplift with a 1988 Merc Rebuilt. I got the boat for a song, but everything needed work. So far - completely rebuilt the trailer, added the Merc.(only had a lower unit on the boat when I got it) replaced the fuel tank, Reglassed 1 frame, added 1 frame, replaced all hoses, bilge pump, some hardware, added racor fuel filter, added some rod holders, scraped and painted the bottom. This year I want to completely rewire the boat with new gages and add a digital fuel meter. Over the next two lifetimes - make it look more like Kevin's boat.

Hey Whalen, I noticed some sort of white material on the ground in your photos and the ones Willy posted as you left with the boat, what is that stuff?

whalenkm
02-28-2007, 09:17 PM
That there is what we call snow up north here. It actually has been pretty scarce around here this winter. This is what's left from the only snow that really accumulated so far this winter. The ground around the boat was covered yesterday and now most has melted away.

You know what sucks about buying a boat in February????.....not being able to use it. I swear I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about getting out on the water.

So that's what snow looks like ;) Just kidding, I'm originally from upstate NY. There is a very cold reason I don't live farther north than I do. Eastern NC rocks for winter weather, no snow in 2 years, and when we do get it, it isn't much.

I also put the bimini up and took a few pics!

Man, I just never get tired of looking at that bow flare. It's almost a sexual thing...

That makes me wonder, if a V20 was a woman what part would the bow equivalent be? Personally I am a dedicated butt and leg man.

(Maybe I'll name my V "Beyonce" instead.)
