no,its not like that at all!!! bugs ,hurricanes, hot all the time, only 2 seasons( uncomfortable & really uncomfortable), lousy roads, etc. Stay where you are you are better off. all we hear all the time is how much better it is "up north"

Isn't that the truth! Why do they all move South if it's so great up North? They say they like the "laid back atmosphere," and then they drive like they're in NYC. ::)

I love Cape Cod!!

But now I am getting older and the winters colder I like to move some place warmer!!

Also we only have 3 or 4 months of good boating here :'(

But I hate heat!

I think I need twio houses one for winter and one for summer ;D

You may have had a shield up brother but I still got an eyefull. Training you know, observation skills. I got skills man 8) Besides I had you two old codgers for chapperones, thank God the lovely miss Robin was around to keep me straight and well fed, otherwise who knows what troubles would have befallen me. ;D

You got to me with two of those. *My favorite summer destinations (in no particular order):

Northern Minnesota
Northern Michigan
Maine
(My 3 M's)

I'll be in Michigan for a week in July! *:)

If I could do it, I'd keep our place on HHI, and have a cabin Up North!

Like I said, I know where Reel's coming from. I don't want to necessarily spend my winters up North, but the summers sure are sweet. Besides, the whole northeast seems to be moving to the SC/GA coast, or Florida.

One more plus for the far North: no hurricanes.

The happiest retired folks I have met in my life it seems all have a similar set up. Some place north during spring summer and fall and someplace south during early winter to early spring.
For me personaly it fits, I love so many parts of this country and feel at home no matter where I go. I love the people from the south though I have spent my whole adult life in the northeast.
I love the warmth of the winter and the fishing and boating season that goes on forever but there is nothing, I mean nothing as beautiful in my eye as the mountains and rolling hills of the north in the summer and fall especially.
Having two homes is the only way of obtaining the best of both unless you do like a lot of snowbirders and live in a Class A RV during the winter and that I don't know if I can do comfortably. Mostly because the places you stay in make you feel like you are in a giant parking lot with a pool. :-/
