So. Never having fished this area before, what do I need to bring for gear. IE; what are we fishing for? I would assume (possibly wrong) that the Stripers will be further north at this time. If we are surfcasting for Stripers, what is the shoreline like? Any structure or is it wide open beaches? Plugs or chunk? Should I bother bringing a boat rod?

Stripers and weakfish, bait or plugs, plugs probably better for early morning and late afternoon. Resident stripers in Delaware Bay, so all sizes most of the year. Most of the big cows that are part of the big migrating schools should be thru by then but you never know. We catch em well into the summer in Raritan Bay. Jetty fishing should be good also for all the mentioned species, especially the weaks in the evening and tide changes.

I just read the Bills sport shop report this morning and
they are catching tog at Indian river inlet.

I usually stop at Bills or one of the other shops and sak if
anyone knows what the daily catch is, they can usually give a good report.

but you can't drive on the beach.
Parking areas are close to the beaches though.

We still need to decide if we are going to do like a charter for Sunday, might be the best way for us all to fish and hang together.
Hammer if you are going to do a lunch thing with burgers etc that would be cool but I don't want this to turn into a work weekend for you and Lefty. I'd rather see Lefty in a hooters tshirt hanging and relaxing ;D

Here is a quick set of directions. If coming from Dover, from the race, you will be on route-1 south. When you get into Lewes from rt.1, there will be a Lowes on the right hand side. Make a left there. Thats Savannah Road. Follow Savannah Road all the way into town, pass the hospita, go over the draw bridge. Once over the Draw Bridge, make your third left, thats Cedar Avenue. Go up five streets and make a right on E. Canal. Cant miss the boat. If you hit the Dairy Queen on Savannah Road, you went one street to far.

Down at the public fishing pier. Guys were catching 281/2" stripers this morning. The weather was crappy and Willy wanted to get on teh road to beat the beach traffic home. Well the V20 get together is over. :'(
Hope the guys had a good time, wish you guys could have got your rods wet. Maybe next time. But we need to get together in the fall for another one. At Willy's or drive up to M.J.'s and Chums part of town. Lisa loved meeting everyone and wants to meet the rest the of the cult. Others have taken pictures as well and hopefully they will post some pics. as well.

MJ, as for my dress, I had been at work for 10.5 hours, then jumped in the van for the 2 hour drive up. I had other clothes for beach / fishing, but we went to dinner instead. Stayed to nearly 11, then made it home in about 1:40. I left the house of 5:45am, got home about 12:30. It was all worth it.

I haven't seen mention of it yet, but Lefty left dinner....they wouldn't serve her and she had to go home for her liscense. Hammer, you better keep hold of her brother, you done REEL good ;D

Well fellows been back the past couple of hours doing kid and honey do items.
Had a good time, now have an established stash in Lewes De. Pretty soon I will be able to go up and down the sea coast from Maine to Louisiana without having to stop at any bars ;D

Hammer has a nice place down there 50 yards from the beach, nice town, small town feel on the water, it reminded me of Mayberry with Internet that I was at a few months back ;D

Lumber, great family. That was the biggest dinner I've ever seen. It was a pleasure to meet one and all. It's a shame I had the near 2 hour ride home, I'd a liked to at least try to hang with Willy, another standup guy. The Yensens are great and we were able to demonstrate what a small world it is. They come from over 400 miles away, and she gradutated w/ my nephew. The evening made it clear to me what a special group we got here. Oh, and the Kool-Aid was great ;D

Sounds good MJ, and we did go to the beach saturday afternoon and hung out, the ladies went shopping.
We had planned on fishing sunday but the weather report turned to sh!t so we decided to party saturday and get up sunday morning and see if we had enough of a break to at least get out on the fishing pier for a few hours.
I got up at 0630 and it was already raining. So I had a nice breakfast with Lefty and Hammer and we did a little sight seeing and then I cut our around 1100, started raining pretty hard by time I got to the Jersey border.
All in all it went fine for me because my main goal was to put a handshake and a live face with friends I have on what is basically a tv screen.
Good people and goal accomplished. Now for the next suarey, when are you having your next surgery Wind Talker ;D
Actually the discussion was to invade New England, I have been hoping to hook up with you and the CB man and fish on the famous Maco Joe. Got Fluke ;D
