We went out on Saturday with a friend of my oldest son and her Mom. They have never spent much time in Boston and none of it on a boat so it was fun to act as a tour guide of sorts. We launched at 9:00AM and didn't get back to the ramp until 11:00PM. In addition to sight seeing we tried some fishing just outside the harbor. There were too many highlights to detail them all but here's a sampling...

As we headed out into the harbor we wondered why the USS Constitution wasn't in her berth. That's the Bunker Hill Monument in the background.

We found out soon enough...

Open Fire!

Fort Independence on Castle Island in South Boston on the background. Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger supposedly did much of his plotting there thinking that it would be difficult for the authorities to bug the location.

Not quite a bone in her teeth but it was interesting to see her actually moving.

Speaking of bones, here is Abigail, our 4th child.

Spotted this guy with a 250. He didn't even wave.

I thought this was the same boat but now that I look the Bimini is different and it looks like an I/O. Two fellow 250's in a row!

This is Graves Lighthouse on the outermost land at the entrance to Boston Harbor. Though not really visible in the picture the Boston skyline can be seen behind it less than 10 miles away.

While we were outside we tried some bottom fishing. The kids thought it was cool that we caught "Sharks" but the dogfish pretty much ruled out our chances at any good ground fish.

On the way back Old Ironsides was back where she belonged...

This is a fun place to stop on the way back. The Cambridgeside Galleria Mall. Food court, restrooms and shopping for the girls!

We went to see the concert on the esplanade. Even though the docks were full getting there by boat is still the best way...

Nice, very nice Steve. I get so lost driving in Boston and I cannot imagine trying to navigate the water around there! ::) ;D

CY,
By the time we got ashore the V was still there but the Captain was no where to be found. Nice looking boat though.

Shawsee,
Getting around Boston by boat is a breeze compared to the roads, but there are still traffic lights to deal with...

However they don't use the "Speed Up" signal (yellow light) on the water for some reason???

Hammer, there is some great diving up here. One of the best spots is right off that lighthouse in the pic...

There are also many more wrecks beyond what they list.

I got certified around 25 years ago but only dove a handful of times after that. I found it facinating but I don't know if it's claustrophobia or what but I'd get uneasy enough at times to make me drop it as a hobby. That was when I lived in Cambridge, I moved here to Leicester almost 20 years ago and it figures that this little town has a dive shop with pool and is 50 miles from the ocean!

If you make it up this way I'd be glad to have you out on the boat to do some diving. Lefty wouldn't let you come alone, would she?

Steve,
My friend actually owns a vacation home in Boston somewhere I believe, on the Bay..??? Been asked to use his place, but never did. Might just have to do a trip up there sometime.
North East wreck diving is the hardest. Cold water, low viz. I;m always stressed on my first dive as well.
Hammer. ;)
