Its a litle under 11ft and is in pretty good shape besides some minor wood rot around the oar locks. I figure I can replace a few boards, add some fishing customazations, sand her down and make a discion on paint, new rails, add a 9hp engine and I will have the perfect skiff for the bay, for squidding in the spring, Flukeing in the summer, and chasing blue fish in the fall!! besides, my daughter loves boats and fishing (she is only 3, but she is already addicted ;D), and this is something I will be able to enjoy with her ;).

Great find,
I would like to pick up something like that,
but I have no time to work on anything but house projects.
The honey do list just keeps growing.

Very nice little boat. I spent a lot of time on a boat a lot like that fishing for flounder with a drop line. Seemed like you could go out in the harbor then and catch 5 or 6 keepers within an hour or so. Boat looks to be in great shape and should not take much to make it look really nice. There's nothing quite like a good old wooden boat with a fresh coat of paint.

Well I didn't win the lottery like some people (MJ ::)) so this is what I found. 8)
1979 14' Amesbury Skiff
1991 15 hp Johnson tiller motor (runs awesome)
1998 E-Z Loader Galvanized Trailer.
All for the grand total of $500. 8)
I think I did okay. Whatchu guys think?

Smokin Deal CB!! You could turn that over and make 2k easy. Those amesbury skiffs are pretty desirable little boats.
Sean - You didn't do to badly either!! I grew with a boat just like that one . . . Of course I had to move it around with oars.

I know Tim. I told that to MJ, but he's a big shot now and isn't interested in the least.
I need to fix the mahogany rub rails, but the rest is fiberglass and solid.
For the price, I may just keep it to putt around with my grandson. ;)

That is a great find Chum,
I am hoping that my son moves home
and then that will free up some time and money for me.
Any day now I will be a grandpa and I can't wait to spoil the little girl. ;) ;) ;D

WOW, that is perfect, exactly what I wanted. $500.00 is my budget, so now I need to find a egine and trailer for $400.00 :P

Wow, CB, that's a steal. Really nice boat. I bet it will get up on a plane real nice with that 15 h.p. What a fun boat that will be for your grandson when he gets old enough to drive around in it himself.

Sorry for the hijack Sean. ;D ;)
I had looked at it before and the guy was looking to get $1500 for it originally. It was tucked way back in his yard with very little visibility from the street. I have a habit of sniffing stuff like this out though. I walked away saying it was more than I wanted or was able to spend right now. I gave him my number and told him to call me if he ever decided to drop his price. He called me because he's moving out of state this weekend and wanted it gone. I offered him the $500. Said he had to think about it and ended up calling me the next day saying come get it. Lucky me.
Lots of small motors on Craigslist right now Sean, but maybe a little sprucing up first. Right? 8) You'll have fun in that with your daughter.
My grandson is 7 now. Almost ready for this to be his. ;D

That is my most favorite style boat (that ya'll got) for saltwater with a tiller outboard.
Pulled mine out the water a few weeks ago to redo the transom.

It's a 14'9" Owlcraft made in 1974
I'm excited to start working on it. I figure before I take the sawzal to the V, I can learn a few things on my skiff ;) ;D
