I made the 4.5 hour drive to meet my friend Shane Sat. Morning. I promptly went to hang my stand the evening hunt so we could get to work and let that settle. I ran 3 deer off trying to hang my stand. >:(

Went back to work moving some stands, setting up some stands and doing a few things on the property with Shane that he needed my help with.

We stopped and ate lunch and I got in the stand about 2pm.

It was a gorgeous afternoon and nice and cool too. I didn't see anything until about 430 pm when four deer came in almost at the same time...they came in the plot right under me and milled out in to the food plot. All were nice looking 100 lb plus does. I watched them for a little while to see if anything else would come in. As 3 of them made their way out of range I figured I needed to make a shot on the last one close enough before she did too. As she made her way to my left I prepared myself for the shot. I got the bow up while she was looking away and made my draw. It was perfect...what every bow hunter dreams of...a beautiful, cool afternoon, a nice deer quartering away at 15 yards so I let her fly. As my beautiful Gold Tip arrow with white cresting and a Lunenok made its way to the deer I was preparing for fresh T-loins. I had the gravy on it and everything. While the arrow embarked upon its mystical flight towards the beast (I know too much Nuge TV for me ::) ) I pictured myself and the Mrs. frolicking towards one another in a field of daisies while I had a frying pan of fresh cooked venison in hand. She was running at me with only a fork and steak sauce while yelling "oh my sweet manly man that brings home to "beef" Ill do anything for you!! What would you like?".. :D ....about that time my concentration was broken by a THUD and an arrow sticking in the dirt. :-X

It was then that I noticed that my net face mask had obstructed my view through the peep site and I had used my 30 yard pin on a 15 yard shot. >:(

I wont hunt again untill Thanksgiving holidays due to the wife's birthday this coming weekend. At that point gun season will have started so I am going to put the 7mag SMACK on a doe. 8)

Maybe then Ill pick up that stupid piece of $#%^ bow again. ;D

Figured I'd throw my 2c in.
Intended to go on an island hunt and take the V but didn’t have time to test the boat before hand, we had planned to take my neighbors Nitro but thanks to the weather service we thought Wassaw was going to be a 5 day nightmare because of Storm Noel.
The day before leaving I went and looked at the sound with straight 20kt winds, 2 foot white caps and the forecast for the next three days was to be straight 30kt and 40kt gusts.
Not wanting to try a loaded down boat carrying 5 days food, water and camping stuff for two people crossing the sound and fearing the weather service might be incorrect about the path of the storm we opted to go inland to Tuckahoe WMA for the same hunt dates.
Well reports I’m getting about Wassaw was “the best hunt in years” from my cousin that usually goes. 35 hunters with 38 deer killed (cousin got 5), the burned section of the island has greened up and the other end is full of acorns. (I’m pissed) The weather was perfect and no problems what so ever.
Tuckahoe had the normal 4-wheeler episodes and quite a number of deer killed, the one I got weighed 107lbs, 1 ˝ years old and a 7 point. There was barely any sign of deer trails and dominate marking lines, after looking at the kill sheets the major portion of deer were under 2 years old.
After reviewing the whole hunt, I have concluded that there is plenty of food, good deer population but most are young deer.
No worthy pictures but did take one of an abandoned church in the management area *

Went to Harris Neck NWR Sunday to look around for the hunt on Friday. There is great deer sign, trails and food.
