Body in fishing net was '01 burial at sea
By CAPE COD TIMES
November 15, 2007

A body that was found Sunday by a fishing boat was identified today as a properly permitted burial at sea dating from 2001, said Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe.

The body was buried at sea in March 2001 after receiving the necessary permitting, O'Keefe said in a press release. The family of the deceased has been notified of the body and proper arrangements are being made.

A fishing crew on the 80-foot Boston-based Guardian found a body 20 miles off Nauset Beach at about 7:10 a.m. Sunday.

The crew contacted the Chatham Coast Guard Station.

The Guardian was too large to dock at Chatham Harbor, so the body was transferred to a Coast Guard vessel shortly after noon.

Was the body bronzed or vacum sealed or something for it to last in the ocean since 2001? That does not make a bit of sense. I bet Scott Peterson would have liked to have known that before he did what he did.

Pretty gruesome. I wonder how difficult it was to ID after 6 years? I think I'll stick with the cremation-scattered ashes plan. Don't want to be anyone's catch-of-the-day. :P

Pipe, I'm starting to think that I like your plan. I have some older fishing buds that have given me the GPS #'s of there final resting place...

The first time it was quite a shock when I man that I consider to be a second father told me that I was to deposit his ashes at our favorite tuna hole.

Funny this comes up, as I heard a radio talk show host talking about an idea for a show:
Where would you want your ashes to be scattered?

It seems the wishes of a man he knew were for his buds to scatter his ashes in 3 places:
A favorite fishing lake in Canada,
a favorite hunting spot in Louisiana,
and a favorite t***y bar in Tampa. * ;D

Imagine a few old-er gentlemen with plastic baggies of his remains trying inconspicuously scatter him around the place. * ::)

I have a few ideas of my own, which I have communicated to the wifey. *
