Anybody ever have a boat with a motor shroud? Was looking at my 87' and with the way the splashwell is built it would be easy to add a shroud and give the benefits of a full transom as well as make a neat bait table, etc. I may just hack one out in the shop in a crude manner and it I like it, build a real one. Any ideas?

I had made a replacement sea wall/shroud/bait table for my Robalo 1820 I just sold out of Star Board. It was meant to keep some of the water I used to get from coming onto the floor while drifting and it did it well. But I noticed a big benefit from it was how much it cut down on the noise from the 150 Merc. On that boat the motor was 4-5 feet behind you at most. I put four scuppers in the bottom and attached it permanently where the factory sea wall ( short, not water tight) was at and made a removable taller section with a bait table on it I would take off when trailering so I could tilt the engine all the way up

Airslot, sounds like a great idea, have any pics of your stern area? I'm sure you'll get some ideas here.

No pics but I was studying last night. Looks like it will need to be about 9" higher than the stern to clear the tilted motor. The more I look at it the more I think I'll do it. My boat is an 87' so there should be some gallery pics of the motorwell. I guess I need to get some pics of the boat.

WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG
I CUT A PIECE OF WOOD THE SAME SIZE AS THE MOTOR WELL AND PUT A 1
2X3 PIECE ALONG THE BACK TO KEEP THINGS FROM SLIDING OFF AND YOU CAN SIT ON IT OR DO WHAT I DO I PUT MY COOLER ON IT WITH A CUTTING BOARD ON TOP OF THE COLLER SO I CAN STAND WHEN CUTTING BAIT AND I KEEP MY BAIT IN THE COOLER ITS I THINK 105 GUART COOLER
