Thanks fellas. Cy, you ever check your b-mail. Can't wait to get her out on the ocean, maybe next week. Heck with the weather forecast we have I won't even get to use my heater. ;) Guess I'll have to focus on my anchoring situation next. Gotta keep the projects rolling you know.

2nd that - nice house. Looks private, you know like Slot probably walks out to the boat in his underwear and turns on his heater. ::)

I know I do ;D

I really like those "outrodders" or whatever you call them. Those are the ticket. I have some similar but they only hold the one rod off to the side.

The enclosure adds a whole new dimension to the boat. Props Dawg!

Thanks boys. Turbo I'm ready to roll when work permits. I'll be chasing stripers, as momma tends to permit that. Strippers on the other, ;D don't go over so well around the homefront. ;D

Hey Slot, I might have missed this but are you gonna or have you already applied any scotch guard type rain proofing stuff to your canvas? Whats the word on doing that? Good / bad? What's the best stuff to use?

Just trying to get some info on canvas. My current top is vinyl and if I redo it one day I think I'll go with sunbrella or the like. Curous on waterproofability after a good sustained soaking. They vinyl does great.

Thanks,
Blue

BR, mine is a Sunbrella "like" canvas and has never needed any Scotchgard or other treatment...for what a guy pays for the stuff, it better not ever leak ;) ;D ...

We've had a mess of rain the last few days and she has held up well. I was told told use 3m 303 fabric protector a couple times a year on the Sunbrella.

Airslot
01-10-2007, 01:09 AM
Have to see how long it stays that way? I used it in the ocean Sunday and did have a bit of salt on it. Got home in the rain but hosed it off and it rained a flood. Have to see how much work it takes to keep it so clear.

This going to be interesting, I see that they have different glass. They have stuff called 20/20 and is to be as clear as glass.

I just wonder if its worth the extra cash?? Salt is tuff!! Gets real gritty when dry.
I wonder if one is more scratch resistant then another?

Lumber, I assume your talking about my 2-rod outrodder? Had em custom made by a local welder. Walked in, told him what I wanted (on a Friday afternoon), waived a few greenbacks in his face, and he said come back in an hour. Worked out beautifully. Sometimes it's amazing what you can get done with Johny Cash on a Friday afternoon ;D

Hey Slot,

I keep hearing the best way to maintain that rolla glass is to use car wax and a "powerball" on a drill.

Just adding my 2 cents ;D

Mine have inserts (boxes) that sit in them. They are big enough to hold a few lures or tools, or a spray bottle of simple green. Id guess about 12" deep.

It's called a rail mount, stock item at boaters world.

It's worked well for about 5 years now. IT will stay there until I get an arch ;D

This looks like what Slot used...of course the moron at West Marine who set up this pic had the mount turned 90* from where you'll use it ...

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/10001/-1/10001/251303/10001/150/29/3

You won't need the adjustable one and ya might wanna shop around...West's prices are normally higher than everybody else...

Hey Slot...lookin' back thru your NEW TOP(NICE) pics and your new rod-holders...do you ever pull any Side-Planer boards?...they're makin' some real light weight ones these days that work REALLY NICE!!... 8) ...

Man, the guy that took those photo's for West must have alot of boating experience ???

I've not messed with planer boards yet. As I understand it, the light ones work great for inland waters, but for the chop we get on the Chesapeake or the OCean (even worse) they don't work well. The boards they use over here are heavy and 3-6' long made out of wood. Those are a pain to store on any boat. ::)

thanks air and reel,

I haven't had any time to make a run to Boaters world, west or basspro. Those are the only 3 in my area for major boat supplies and their all in the next state.

I'm gonna need to make a run up to there. I have the antenna cable hole and I was looking for a double plug wire plug so I don't have to cut a new hole. I would think there's got to be one of those out there also.

AIr, Where do you live? I saw where you were talking about fishing in chesp bay.
