Your V is looking great. Love the paint job. Would perform alot better without that bracket. Yanker her off and sell the bracket to me. I also accept Freebee's. ;D ;D

Thanks Hammer! It’s been a long and expensive renovation but I’m very happy with the results. Can’t wait to be back in the water fishing the stream and going to Bimini. By the way, bracket is in the mail. 8)

Nice looking work.
I have a ? for you guys, my V-20 has that off white color and I'm removing everything off my transome except the trim tabs so I filling all the holes by countersinking and installing 5200 and then rescrew the fasteners in. I was planning on finishing by coating the screw head with 5200 and smooth.
Is there anyway to get the exact offwhite color?

I have done this and the 5200 turns yellow, you better off leaving the screw heads showing. Just make sure you get plenty in the holes when putting screws back it, clean the excess ASAP
Yes there is a way and a few here have gotten the right color match.
I am sure someone will chine in. I have just never tryed, in ll turns the same after awhile.

Any chance you could let me know if your hull has any braces up front where your seats/boxes are. I'm thinking about removing the casting deck of my 74 CC in order to make the deck one level (similar to yours) and was wondering if additional support is needed support the hull after I remove the deck?
Thanks

Great Gallery, Builder...there's a V20 w/ some history...and future ;) ...what motor ya gonna hang off that new bracket?...
...in your Gallery, several pics show a yellow tank, then what appears to be a larger, gray tank...looks to be a good move :D ...

you old guys never read!! the yellow was the old 60, then he decided to change it to a 98 gal, $2.35 X 98 = $230.30 :o
But that would get me 5 trips to the fluke with having to refill ;D

Thanks, great reference pictures - just what I was looking for! It looks to me like On_The_fly may have some competition in the best looking CC on the site!
I have another question for you. How did you determine where to place the 93 gallon tank you installed? Any special consideration to the weight distribution between the bracket/live well and that of the tank to determine its location?
I'd be interested to hearing how you like the balance of the hull once you’re up and running.

We did some weight distribution/displacement calculations (I will look for them and post later date) but basically the gas tank was moved forward up to the first floor (perpendicular bracing to runners) and second floor removed. Water tank, 13 gal. followed by two empty compartments, one storage, and the other bilge. The console is being moved forward, a new hardtop and the two batteries are moving from bilge to under console. Although the weigh (250 #) of the full removable bait well and the additional (249 #) of fuel when full concerns me, I believe that the Bennett M-120 Trim Tabs are going correct for listing and uneven weight distribution. Why such a big tank? Enough fuel for a round trip of fishing to Bimini without having to re-fuel at about $5 a gal.

I’m hanging the original 1980 Merc. 200, completely rebuilt and painted. A bit loud, but lots of power. By the way, I’m trying to find replacement decals.

Builder, if you can find a good pic of a 1980 200 Merc, any good vinyl shop should be able to reproduce the decals. I'll bet the guy painting your boat is hooked up with somebody who does boat graphics.

I have been dreaming of doing that since I have been boating. Of course my trip would have to start with a long trailering trip.

I found a shop on line that can reproduce the decals for $99 - full set per motor. I'm sending him measurements of all the decals. Concern, I don't know the quality of their work...
Thanks,

macojoe,
I know, it's a $250 fill up, however I can always put $50 and fish all day like I've done many times. It's having the range available what's driving the change in the tank. It was etched, primed, painted and sealed in 2# foam and I hope it will last at least 12-15 years.

O I know why you did it, and I know you can just add what ever you want, I love the Idea just filling up one a month, But the sticker shock at first is mind blowing!

Builder, just a wild guess, but was it something like "Garzon Studios"? And I wish I could carry 98 gallons. Now there's an idea for a heck of a project...

One more question. In the finished photo of the exposed tanks. I saw two PVC pipes running next to the stringers . What is there function?
Thanks

ThanksI think the PVC is for running cables, wires, gas line, etc... Mine came stock with one on the right I which I would have added another to the left when it was apart.

Yes CC have PVC for running all the rigging. One pipe is for the electric & cables, and one for the fuel & Oil.
Cuddy's just use the gunnel's.

Builder - Decals . . . I'm working now one day a week (my fun job) at a marina near SF clearing out old Merc inventory. I start this weekend . . . I know he has several old cowlings for sure . . . two 1980 v225 cowling sets and others. I'll look though this weekend and see if there are any decals. He's been a merc dealer for 30 years, so there's TONS of crap.
Do you know if you have a verticle or horizontal front half on that motor?

This was the best set in the whole bunch. There is a face plate too (not in photo)
http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/albums/anthony/DSCN1763_Small.jpg
I actually have a better set for a 1979 200 that is mint for it's age. I was saving it for myself, but I would sell it for $125 + shipping (another $30 to $40).

Those newer two piece 2.5L non clam shell types will fit your motor. You just need the mounts (and a powerhead gasket when you pull the powerhead to install the mounts).

And if you use those there you get extra 25 hp!! ;) ;D
