I saw that one of our old members had actually used seacast
inside the old fiberglass as forms.

Also, I am thinking of a project, I know MJ made his own anchor pulpit,
how about some pix of other peoples home made pulpits?

That's a fine looking boat and some really good craftsmanship. How does one apply awl grip? Do you spray it or roll it? Just curious. I've been wanting to paint my V fighting lady yellow and might do it someday.

between this site, Charlestonfishing.com and Classicseacraft.com, I've be saying this a lot here lately, so once again.
Pick up the free AwlGrip applications guide available anywhere AwlGrip products are sold, it will answer any question Awlgrip you may ever have, also has some really good tips on preperation regardless of which paint brand or method of application you may use. Its also available on their website

I think awlgrip is primarily rolled and tipped. Mine has been done from the rubrail down and holds up nicely. You don't even have to wax awlgrip which is one of the best things about it. Just wash it and it will shine and shine.

I'll be able to help soon. When the weather actually breaks here, I'll start working on my pulpit...I have some ideas in mind ;D
Mine will probably be fairly wide on deck, almost to the rails and as far back is the slide goes forward. I'll probably thru bolt a cleat on each side. I'll post a pic of a crude drawing in a moment.

OK, here is my drawing. I suck at drawing, so bear with me. I show 3 cleats, a chain tensioner, and a pipe to the rope locker. I have also shown the "center line" and the rails. I'm thinking to make it wide on deck to help distributte the load.

"Rolled and Tipped" means to very lightly brush the rolled on paint to level the orange peel and roller marks. It should be done with a high quality brush with a two man system, one rolling one tipping.

No problem on the hijack,
I just wanted to remind people of the second question.
C Y - MJ's is what started me on the idea, I just need some more ideas.
Air - thanks for the sketch, you should see my sketchs
and I'm an engineer.

So Parish, how about a comment or two on the design, and what you may have in mind.

Just kicking around a lot of ideas.
I even thought about putting a hole in the front end of the hull,
sorta like an ocean liner type anchor.
http://ocean-liners.schuminweb.com/images/ships/america-09.jpg
Everything I think of would interfere with docking.
Like offset on the front end, so I don't have to move the Red Green lights.

Was that when the trailer tires went flat
and then the V fell off while you were taking it to
the car wash? ;D ;D
I know, the bow.
Gotta wait until May, when the park electric is turned on.
Probably coming down April 14 or 15,
I think 14, when Bill's has his annual flea market. ;)
