View Full Version : How to keep my cuddy dry?

Since I am not always a fair weather fisherman, I occasionally take a few over the bow while trolling in the Chesapeake Bay. Any suggestions on how to keep the water out? I thought of having some type of removeable cover made to use when trolling since I wouldn't need to slide open the hatch. Thanks, Barry

Barry, I've pondered that problem before....and decided just to deal with it. I couldn't figure it out?

And the Puhbah has spoken. So, instead of a little water in the cuddy, we fill up the whole danged boat :o

ME TOO!
I'm 100% in agreement! *I was thinking on the front we could put one of those pipe channels [don't know what you call it] like they use on full enclosure curtains where there is the round thingy that slides into the channel, then just put regular snaps down the sides. *That should keep water from coming through the front. *Then it would need to also come up under the windsheild on the front if you know what I mean. *Maybe even a strip of velcro on the bottom of the windshield...
That's cool that we had the same thought! *Great minds do think alike! * So when are ya having it made? *;)
P.S. Slot couldn't even figure this out....so we must really have some above average IQ's ;D

If water only comes thru the hatch-lid, why not make cover for only the hatch-lid? The slide in connector BR mentioned could work for front and both sides ... front would have to be all the way to the front of the slide though...
That IS a tuff one, guys ;) ...

That's what I meant RAP, just for the hatch lid. The problem with the V21 is there are starboard channels along the sides that drain into the cockpit beside the cuddy door. When a large amount of water hits, it gets overwhelmed and overflows the starboard channels right into the cuddy cabin.
How would you use slide in connectors for the sides and the front? Would you slide in the front one first and then the 2 sides? I think this will work no doubt! I'm gonna do it................................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ......one of these days ::)

If you think he's funny here, spend time w/him in person ;D ;D ;D ... :-* ...
BR, yeah, front first, then sides, but if the water's followin' the channels (to the windshield?) then a cover's not gonna stop it ??? ...

would snaps work?you wouldnt have the clean look of bars or slide track. but when not in use all you would have to deal with is a folded up piece of tarp. simple, but, it may work. good luck

Funny this has come up, the other day when I was on the shake down ride we anchored, Well as my son opened the windshield and slide the hatch open he crawled in th get the cover off the anchor rope bucket.
With out any one looking from no were we stuff the bow!
Water Comes over the bow and just pours, and I mean pour water all over my son!! Looked like we just pulled him from the icey water!! Water was 58*

MJ - same thing happened to my brother in law...only difference is I saw the wave coming but didn't say anything :D ;D ;)
RAP - the cover would extend all the way to the front...I know it can work on the V21, don't know about other V's but probably.
