I'm measuring my butt now. I don't think 2 1/2" will quite work on the width !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the new cord and all to restring, but haven't got rountuit ;) ...

I think the V ya'll are talking about was one I was trying to buy. The guy could never locate the title or registration. Would have been very convenient as I live about 1.5 miles away.

OK Harbour ... I finally got yer measurements...sorry for delay ::) ...
Footprint is 42" L x 22 1/2" W
Height under seat is 16 1/2" (that hght half the length of the box) ... back half of box is 19" H
The varying height of the box is to accommodate correct seat height in front AND allow fuel-line fittings in back ... I thought they would be too high in back when I's makin' 'em, but it's reely worked well the way they are...wouldn't change 'em if I could ;) ...
Lowes now has SS staples if you upholster yours :) ...

I went ahead and started one helm box. It is 40"x18"wx16"h. I build it out a frame out of 3/4" poplar and side panels of 3/8" plywood. The top is 3/4'' plywood(two pieces laminated were the seat will mount).
Everything is glassed and faired. A 48 qt. cooler(with the lid removed) will be mouted inside the rear of the box and a new lid made of fiberglassed plywood and trimmed with resin covered mahaganoy will mount behind the seat.
The cooler has a drain plug, but I need to plumb it so it will drain outside the box.
This is the first time I have been able to log onto the forum in two days.

Sounds like yer boxes are comin' along nicely...good idea on the cooler insert, that'll work GREAT 8) ... how's about some pix? ;D ...I'd like to see :D ...
