Welp, first thing... boy did the weather man lie to us!!! ha ha hah a... ::)
conditions were 3-5's with a 10-15 knot wind, just a tad bumpy.... so we ended up havin to change our game-plan.
Ran offshore to this ledge area, started trollin over bait balls on the way out, but only managed 3 knock-downs, but no takers. Got to the ledge and found some good structure just a bit east of where we usually run our #'s and wha-la... fish were there. Nice 20 ft. rise of rocks/bottom that went from 101 ft up to 79 ft then drop'd 12 ft on the back of it. Got lucky and anchor'd pretty much on the outside edge of it on the first try.
Limited out on black sea bass, red grouper, pinks, grey grunts and vermillion snappers. Caught a dozen sharks, kept one of decent size (3 1/2 ft.'er), and hooked one blackfin tuna while trollin in the early evenin (pink and white tuna feather behind a pink 5 1/2 inch Boone bird).
Found weeds, but the water was movin all day at a good clip and nothin was clump'd up, all spread out... didnt see/hear/hook a mahi one.. :-/ (trollin or otherwise). Did hear a report on the radio that further south of us by 30 miles or so the weeds were better and there were a couple hook-ups on gaffer dolphin... but my crew decided why leave fish to find fish so they elected to stay and drift/bottom fish.
All in all, we managed to limit out on some fish... and we sure threw back alot of short grouper (threw back 12 red's an inch short!!) as well as pink snappers too. Lost 3 good fish trollin and had 3 break offs while bottom fishin, one was probably a big shark as it snapped 80 lb line and kept on goin! :o
I do apologize for not takin more pix, but we roll'd back in at the house here around 1130 last night and the guys didnt feel like posin for pix (ha ha ha...) they were pretty wore out. Boss man chum'd over the side 3 times and my neighbor was close to tossin Dorito's himself while we were anchor'd up.. (they felt a little better once we got movin), but due to how rough it was I think they did a good job,,,sure caught alot of fish.
So here's pix of my share (group-ah tasted great with a side fillet of trigger fish for dinner tonight by the way) and here's a couple pix of one of the sharks that was caught, another of one of the group-ah doubles, and some pretty tired guys!!! ha ha ha ha.... ;)

Oh, here's the boss man post chum pic and them tired fella's... Slap wore them out. Trolle'd for a total of 4 hours and bottom fished for 7 hours give or take..... It was a lot rougher than it looks in the pictures... unfortunately pictures dont do the swells justice. After 11 hours of pitchin and rollin them boys was wore out.
20 minutes into the ride home,,, they was out!! :)

Cool deal man. I don't think I'd leave fish to find fish either. Sorry to hear it was rougher than expected. Looks like you did put some meat in the cooler!
Glad to hear you didn't toss your Doritos along with the rest of the crew! Wish I could'a been there!

No secret for me, I take dramamine!! ;D
Between me and boss man, we ended up with 'bout 70 lbs of fish. His cooler had more fish than mine in it... thing is at the end of the day no-one was up for photo's... so sorry I couldnt post more.

We're all guilty of not takin more photos...after fishin all day and fella is wore out its hard to wash the fish slime off your hands, take a swaller of beer and snap some pics. All I want to do is get the boat cleaned and take a nice hot shower! Then a swaller of beer ;D
