Interesting, but that seems like a lot of coin for that boat. Unless, you are rich and a collector of rare boats.

Have a story to tell, but escuse my poor writing skills. My friend Joe ( not real name) had saved his pennies many years ago and went off to buy his dream boat, a Shamrock. But unfortunatly Shamrock had gone out of buisiness. *Our beloved Wellcraft had quickly introduced a Shamrock clone to the market and my friend purchased one. He gets it back to the dock and notices when hosing it out ,all water runs to front of boat, not back and out scuppers. *Also realizes that the tip of the prop is almost breaking water at rest. *These are things not evident in the show room. My friend is back and forth with dealer etc.. long story short while using boat gets in situation and boat flips or rolls or whatever. It was due to poor design because other Wellcrafts also went under. *I wonder it that "interesting Wellcraft" is the same vintage. *I would of thought more that six were made though. Or that they would have been recalled.

Hi Bill,
Yeah, only 6 were made - is that a good thing?

Well I can't say about the newer Shamrocks because I'm sure they've all been redesigned, but that was a common problem with older Shamrocks as well. They rode through the water bow heavy. Anything much less than planing speeds and they plowed a lot of water. The newer ones seem to be redesigned though. I just haven't seen too many of them out on the water. Inherently, I like the straight inboard design keeping the motor weight centered and low. It just makes for a difficult trailerable boat. I know that Shamrock also makes a "Pocket Drive" for shallow water running. When I look at that, all I can think of is the old Penn Yan's and all the problems they had with a "Pocket Drive". Very inefficient prop "bite" and would throw a rooster tail from here to next Sunday.
While that Wellcraft is interesting, it's too much $$. There aren't a lot of boats that can be considered an investment and I don't think that's one either.
