Now that I have my nice V20 and I had asked before about amount of storage I'm asking about where do you store your essentials, anchor, bumpers, tool box etc. *I have some ideas and places where the previous owner stored things, but he kept the anchor in the floor fish locker. *That's meant for fish! *Thanks Bill Mc *V20 Cuddy

My fenders just hang on the inside off the cleats and when i need them I just flip over to the out side.
I have my rope colied ina bucket with a ss clip on the end and the anchor is in a anchor holder on the bow. When I need it i just grab the anchoe clip the line to it and off it goes. Of corse i have not used the anchor in about 3 years but it is there if needed!!

I have the rest of the stuff it platic amo boxwes in the cuddy. I have added some wood rails on the inside edge of the cuddy so nothing falls out.
The old V20 I/O has 2 fish boxes running up the center of the boat with teak covers. I can hold 200#'s of fluke with pleanty of ice in the floor!!

I have changed boats 3 times now and it takes me about 2 to 3 seasons to get everything set up just right. You will get there.

I've been throwing them either in the flip-back cooler seat or a well in the floor right behind it. On my particular boat, the rear hatches have lift out plastic wells. Not sure if they are factory or previous owner customized. Anyways, when you lift them out, there's a cavernous space under them down into the bilge. I rigged a hook under there and that's where they'll be hanging most of the time so they're out of the way.

No particular reason why I mounted the hasps the way I did other than when they're open, they drop down out of the way.

MJ I like the idea of using plastic boxes. *Easy to move around. *CB the hatch on the starboard side of the transom has a removable been. *The battery is below but I still believe there is room for the bumpers I mean fenders. *;D ;D *I'll have more questions after this da__ snow quits falling and I get a chance to go over the boat again. *Thanks Bill Mc

In my cuddy I took the cushions out of the cabin, they just gather mildew. Then I use big tupperware containers for flares, charts, first aid kit etc. These can be attached using velcrow. I like the idea of mounting the anchor on the bow with the line elsewere with a clip.
Also I have my VHF mounted in the cabin, this keeps it out of the weather and it is still easy to reach from the helm. My biggest problem is people that go fishing with me, they bring SO MUCH JUNK! I like and insist on a clear cockpit.

I have a small anchor locker in the forward section of the cuddy. I believe it's visible in a shot or two in the Gallery. I plan to modify it some as things tend to get a little messy after some trips. I keep 300 feet of rode and a 10 pound Danforth in it!
I like the shelf space in my cuddy and have mounted a CD player and all kinds of storage bins all around it.
I too removed the cushions as they just get nasty after a few trips.
The centerline fishbox is reserved for ice and whoever decides to bite one of my lines! I allow no beverages or food in there as I don't particularly care for that slimy first gulp of "Essence of Fish".
I keep tackle in a big tackle box on the port side of the V-berth and a big cooler on the starboard side. Of course, in the heat of battle, I end up with tackle covering the port dash space too!
My fenders usually end up on the deck of the cuddy...not this year as I'm buying holders that mount to the bow rails! ;D
I've got 6 gunnel mounted rod holders and 4 transom mounted PVC holders. Plus the jankety plastic under-gunnel holders which is where the gaff and boat hook reside...as well as the infernal Sabiki rigged rod...gotta come up with something better for that! ???

AJ, that "slimy Essence of Fish" is all part of the great experience of fishing. :P ;D ;D ;D
Sabiki rigs are near impossible to store in any unruly manner. ;)

AJ, My boat has the same locker in the cuddy. How do you secure the anchor so it does not rattle around in it.
Our boats have the same cuddy doors. On mine only the top hatch has a hasp and lock. The smoked sliding door does not lock. What does your lock assembly look like. I too prefer smelling the hops over a fishy smell when drinking a beer. I always have a beer while cleaning our days catch, so I get both. If you got em drink em! ;D ;D Bill Mc

I'm with ya Mac Attack! Hell, my body and my boat may be covered in blood and guts...but my cold beverages better be pristine!
As far as my sliding door...It doesn't have a lock. I can tell it had one, but it has long since given up the ghost. I have been thinking of a good way to secure it and the top sliding hatch with one mechanism. Any ideas ???
MJ...the only function my boat has is to bring in the biggest and mostest fish in the sea! What other ungodly purpose could a boat possibly have??????? :P

MJ doesn't believe that we can catch fish and have a clean boat. ;D IT'S TRUE MJ! ALL YA HAVE TA DO IS BREAK OUT THE HOSE A BRUSH AND A LITTLE SOAP ONCE IN A WHILE! ;D Actually his boat isn't all that bad. he's exaggerating a little. ::)

Hello All,
I was wondering if some storage could be created in the cuddy under the V-Berth similar to the one in the forward area with the teak cover. They sound hollow when you tap on the sides and if there aren't stringers under there at the very least I could stow life jackets and rope there. Seems a simple mod to use the dremel to cut a neat rectangle and save the cut out piece for a lid. Anyone know if its hollow inder the port and starboard bunks?

Capt Jerry,

I've often thought of taking the sawzall to that area but never had the guts to go through with it. It definitely sounds hollow. Has anyone on the board with a cuddy gone through with this mod? ???

Unless you go down the center there is not much room there! The huge V shape of the bottom makes it a very small area, and it is a wage shape.
I no this because a friend of mine and I went to look at one and they had it cut away up front to fix a hole thur the front.

Heres how my anchor is stored. The anchor itself rides in "chocks" on the port side deck, rather far toward the bow. I have a piece of two inch PVC that is run throught the dechk and into the anchor locker just forward of the the wooden cover for said compartment. There is a "rode chase", I think thats the term, mounted over the opening on the bow deck. I keep the anchor on deck with the chain sort of wrapped around it and the rode falls into the anchor locker. Works very well.

I like that idea, Airslot. It would really clean up the clutter that anchoring inevitably causes. Only thing I question is how much water finds its way into the anchor locker and then to the bilge? I know everyday rain or the water from a wet rode isn't the issue...I'm talking taking a wave or 10 over the bow?
Then again, a 2" hole isn't really that big....let me know what, if any, issues you've run into...I might need to break out a holesaw bit for the drill!
Thanks ;D

I have the same deal with my boat. i have the 2" hole leading to the locker.
I don't no were the old owner use to anchore but there was a ton!! Of sand in there when i got the boat!! It took me beter then a season to keep washing all the sand down to get it all out! >:(
I don't use it any longer. I have a 5 gal bucket with holes drilled into the bottom. I coil the rope into that and I have a screw on cover. Achoe rides on the bow with chain on it till needed.

As for water getting into that 2" hole, don't worry about it!! I think i might have buryed the bow 2 times in the 5 years I have had it and not much when in at all.
