fished the Eatons Neck Coast Guard Sta. yesterday late afternoon, thousands of birds crashing, small blitzes everywhere. Got 4-5 small stripers instantly on a small white poppers. the large striped bass has eluded me all season, so we decide to get some eels down below the surface blitzes. Drifting from 25 ft. to 45 ft. back up to 25......NADA..O..I'm not having a good year as far as a 15,20,25lb. striper goes. I gotta ask MJ or CB if you guys still have any fall run action going on up north... or willy and Captbent. if you guys got it going on to my south. Going to try again today w/ TheTinMan we'll see what happens

never made it out on the boat yesterday so I did a little surfcasting off the beach, same area as posted before. It was a repeat....thousands of birds about 4 casts out, they finally moved within reach. Managed 4-5 little schoolies and nothing more. Last year at this time I was getting 32"-42" every time out, all on eels. Just seems like the larger fish just have'nt shown up yet or have already left the area. You should do well out in Montauk or Block Island area...it is the Mecca for striped bass, good luck capnbent!

HE HE HE Pic of a huge striper and Skools hones in on the horsepower in the background....you gotta love him ;D

Nice fish Tinman, what'd you take him on? Enquiring minds want to know, need to know, have to know, will die if they don' know!

The first batch of linesiders migrating down the coast are beginning to be caught on the shoals of North Carolina as of this past weekend. The next cold spell should really get em movin. I'm lookin forward to January.

Phester went out last week caught several stripes, 4 32 - 37 and a few smaller, Raritan Bay, my friends are reporting that there are large schools being hit at Fire Island as of last week, expect the recent cold snap to push them my way soon. Or they could do what they did last year and a large amount of them skip the bay completely and head south. The Shrewsbury Rocks are producing some big boys but it is sporadic like I had last week.
I was using eels and fishing the drop offs and channels but got nothing but a few blues ripping my eels apart and after several locations nothing.
I observed two boats coming out of the harbors and fishing long before any one else fishes so I went to investigate and found that they were fishing in 12-14 ft of water! perfectly flat bottom. Said what the H@ll nothing normal is working drifted thru and guess what several big fish, several good hits and something else was getting stuck occasionaly when we would set the hook clams it was a clam smorgasborg down there in that shallow water and thats where the stripes were at I'm just learning this salt water stuff, apparently its going to be a big learning curve as you never know what is happening down in that water.

O.K. here's the report....hundreds of birds, lotsa bass....16" bass. I was on more of a "recon" mission collecting some intel on NEW possible fishing spots. Tin...,went deep in back of porpoise chanel looking for little feeder creeks along the eelgrass. Found a couple of good possibilities, worked a few plugs and poppers in and around the area....looked promising, where I was is only accessable via boat. Anyway got all the little rats just OUTSIDE the chanel.Probably the last warm Nov. day we're gonna see around these parts, we'll just have to gas up the mighty V and get that heater going!

forgot to say thank you Willy for your report...,typically thats the size fish you'll get off our local beaches this time of year, even 40-42".....however not the case this year, for me
