60 gal tank measurements

I think i might have to replace my fuel tank in the near future(84 model). I called a couple of salvage yards and they all want the measurements to see if they can match anything. I was hoping someone had those without me having to pull the tank. thanks

What's goin' on w/your tank...why do you think you gotta pull & replace it...unless it's something really bad, it may be repairable(be sure it's pressure tested after repair)...

Phat - is your's plastic? or aluminum? Marine Connection Liquidators has tons of plastic tanks and I am pretty sure that they have some original 60gallon tanks. Somewhere in the archives repirts (? I think) located a exact replacement and I was pretty sure marine connection liquidators has one. The shipping from florida was too expensive and killed the deal.

If I were you I'd verifiy the dimensions with wellcraft, but in repirts second posting he said that Marine Connection liquidators did have that poly exact tank. btw- they buy all the surplus equipment from boat manufacturers. If you ever get a chance to visit . . . plan on spending several hours (very easy to do)

Thanks for the info. I think the problem might have been a bad vent hose. I noticed a strong fuel smell in the fish box and in the forward deck locker after I topped of the tank.(I cut a hole in the deck forward of the tank and installed a hatch to access the large wasted space between the cabin bulkhead and the tank cavity) I always expect the worst, but after pulling the tank cover i think the problem was a leaking vent hose. I really like this boat and have owned it for 14 years and plan on keeping it. I thought I would replace the tank as a sort of extreme preventitive maintenence. I have a friend who lives in Stuart and was at Marine Liquidaters, but they said they needed the actual measurements. He comes this way often and I thought if i could get a deal on one I would just have a stand-by. Thanks for the good input.

Marine Connection had an exact original equipment replacement for my 65 gallon belly tank for my '83 cuddy. Don't remember exactly how much but at a really good price. The problem was that I couldn't get anyone to ship it. Even though it was a clean, brand new, never seen fuel tank they said it's hazmat and wouldn't tough it!

repirts - how's your boat coming along? Did you ever get the problems worked out with your merc?

Hi bigshrimpin,

Merc is running great. Rebuilt the power head over the winter. Put it on in May. Started first turn of the key. Had a couple of bugs that needed working out. It was stalling at very low speed. Wouldn't you know it, I didn't rebuild the fuel pump when I did the rest. Quick rebuild of the pump (takes about 15 minutes) and everything is great. Now if only the fishing in Boston harbor was as good!!
