Hey guys, just found this site. I bought an 83 V20 cuddy with a 470 Mercruiser about 2 months ago from Grand Island NY. then had it shipped by sea to Bermuda. Made some minor improvements like fitting a dual battery system and larger bilge pump etc. Had a minor oil leak but that was just the rocker cover gasket and thats fine now. Boat is in great physical and mechanical condition and this his her first time in salt water. Boat runs great, engine is clean quite and very dependable. Fished her last week in about a 6 foot sea and was very pleased with its performance and we didn't get wet. I am thinking about creating a rope locker forward by separating the large locker into two (top & botton) and then connecting it to the very foward locker via 1" PVC pipe and then from the very front locker up through the very front of the cuddy again using PVC pipe to a through hull fiiting on deck. All I would have to do is select my anchor and and connect it to the shackeled end if the rope on deck and Bobs your uncle no more unsightly rope on deck. What do you guys think about my idea??? Thanks guys I really enjoy reading your posts. LATER

Welcome to the site. ;D
My buddy has an '83 also and he did exactly as you're speaking of with the through deck pipe and PVC tube. Works out real nice and tidy. ;)

I keep my anchor on the bow in *pulpit and run the line through a deck pipe to the locker in the bow. *I used a piece of 4" flex drain pipe as a sleeve between the top deck and the shelf. *This way any water that comes through the deck pipe is funnelled into the bilge and the 4" is big enough to allow the line to travel freely. *The flex works well because you can compress it enough to wedge it into the gap and it is tight enough to stay put without fastners.
