I just thought I would say hi to all. I have lurked around here for a while and just bought a 1985 v20. I've read probably every post on the site, and this place is filled with good info on a cool little boat.
My boat is powered with a 99 115 Johnson on an armstrong bracket. The engine was purchased new in 2001 and has 110 hrs on it. I'm a fisherman, so 20 knots will be fine by me. I chose the boat with the newer and smaller engine on the bracket, rather than one with a 20 year old 200 hp on a rotted transom.
Of course, I will have lots of questions for you experts as I fix up the boat to my liking over the winter. I have lots of screw holes to fill, recessed rod boxes to replace, seats to replace etc.

Congrats and welcome. Brackets are getting to be the dominant setup around here.

Welcome, Fillet. If you've been lurking, you know what a wealth of experience and information you have to draw upon here (and I don't mean from me!). Enjoy! 8)

Thanks all. I'll try to attach a pic from the prior owner. Bottom has been dry ice blasted, barrier coated and painted black since. It also has a full height bimini with front and side curtains that are not in the pic. Airslot, this pic shows the pulpit. I think it may be mahogany, but its pretty weathered and with the cold I havent had a chance to check it out in detail yet. Its about an inch and a half thick and has a bow roller assembly on it.

It was originally a 112 hp(?)sea drive. The boat has been underpowered its whole life. ;D It has the livewell in the stern. Transom is really solid. Anyone actually use that well?

Looks sweet! And if it's been underpowered all its life, I bet it hasn't been abused. 8)

I have liners beneath my transom hatches that I use for Plano boxes and other storage. The hinges are pretty shot though. You probably have the same round aireated bait well in the deck near the stern and the rectangular well amidships, so plenty of storage. I still have my 112 Sea Drive on the stern, so I guess I will be an optimist and say my boat is underabused too :).

Man that IS a perdy one...leave it to a V-20 to make a 115 look like a kicker. ;D

Here's one more that shows the bracket a little better.

Welcome F1 - I totally agree with ya about the wisdom in buying a used v20 that was underpowered. But you already knew that - right? ;)
Nice lookin rig. :)
