In an effort to better guage interest in a V20 gathering , I thought it best to start a new thread . Picking up where we left off on RP's "finally... the right prop" thread . Who out there might have an interest getting an owners event together ?

I'd be interested in getting together. The question is where?
Should this be a regional thing?
I'm hesitant to offer this since I'm a newbbie on here, but I might be able to help organize or plan something. It sort of what I do professionally... "Site Selection" (I won't go into details). But it involves looking at the "distribution and clustering" of members and what location(s) would be have the shortest traveling distance for the greatest number of members. But I'd need to get some infor from the V20 Gods (Administrators) on the members. If nothing else, I can produce a nice map of the U.S. showing where everyone is located.
But off the cuff, I think somewhere on the Chesapeake would be central for the East Coasters. I see quite a few postings from the Northest, Chesapeake, and Carolinas.
We certainly can (or should get together) when I'm in Wilmington.
Just let me know how I can help. I like my V-20 Tee-shirts so much I feel I have to do something to give back to the group.

Wilmington does sound good for people in Fl. and people up north on the east coast i know we have people in Tx. i have seen on here. I am in southeast Ga right on the Fl. line but what ever ya'll come up with i will try to make it.

Well I wasn't proposing Wilmington per se, I just noticed Labii and I live in Wilmington (well I live there part time now... work forced a change in living situation), so I thought Labii and I might meet up there sometime.
Like I said, I'm flexible. If we did choose Wilmington/Cape Fear I'd suggest we flotilla out to Masonborro Island (protected reserve, mostly beach), it's a great place to picnic & party.
My 2 Cents.

Let me jump in here and stir the pot, Wellcrafts V20's were made in Florida !!!!Come on home. Plus it's closer to me since I live if Florida. Timing is more important than location to me. New job, no vacation for a while, but I'd love to meet - even in Wilmington or the Chesapeake Bay area.

Franco, I'm gonna be in FL at Cape San Blas sometime during the 1st two weeks in June...you 're over on the E coast, right?...
If enough V20ers can get their poop together and get there, we could do it then...Port St Joe would be a GREAT venue for a gathering... 8) ;D...
Franco, how'bout we get all the FL V20s together in June, then have another Roundup at Cape Fear later in summer for the guys up there...I don't expect many could make BOTH, but it would be an opportunity for lots more...

Okay... I'm up early to head to NJ to pick up the NEW V20 and hopefully splash her this weekend (I need it...lol).
So I was thinking in the shower this morning.... my house in Wilmington is on a big corner lot about 2 miles down a str8 4-lane road to the Wrightsville Beach ramp. Probably room to park 4-6 boats and still have plenty of room to pitch tents; for those who wouldn't want one of the motels within a mile of the house.
I'm not sure I'm ready to invite the world into my house, not that big of a house, but the yard and location (washdown, etc.). I MIGHT be able to facilitate a Wilmington event LATE summer. Labor Day weekend? This way, even if parking at the ramp(s) becomes bad, we can ferry trailers & boats back and forth from the house. Just an idea.
THAT SAID.... as possibly the only FL Native on here (who grew up not far from the original Almin V-Step plant, the predecessor of our V20's) I'll say the
the St. Joe float sound great too!!! Hell, I've got cousins there and if this trip from NJ goes well with the new trailer, I just might be crazy enough to make a trip over for that.... June? hmmm. of course if gas continues to go up I may have to rethink that.
Okay, Springsteen into the CD player, top off the tank (UGH!!) and Jersey here I come.

Oh yeah, I was also thinking that the Marketing Department at Wellcraft might be interested in throwing some support for an event(s) like this. Good PR. Like Chevy supporting the Corvette club. Building "brand". They might love a photo of a bunch of V20's lined up on plane or on a beach.
Just an idea.

Jester , what do you think about Southport ? The ramp down there is a good deal more parking . But then again no Masonboro . This thing could cut both ways for Wellcraft . There could be a big demand to bring them back !

Heck, I drag my FJ40 all over the country for Land Cruiser events; I'd certainly be willing to drag my V20 to a V20 event! Doesn't matter where, to me. I could learn a lot from yous guys. ;D

Great, Franco...my wife's family has already rented the house on the cape...I'd tell ya to come stay, but it'll be FULL(LOTTA COUSINS)...State Park at San Blas has GREAT splash ramp...oh and good campin' if you can do dat...probably motels in St Joe or Mexico Beach, but better make plans soon...you ever go over there?...
Jester, thanks for the hospitality on the parking...SECURITY these boats we need to consider... and you got it covered...ONLY Labor Day Weekend, my vote is to AVOID.'cause of the crowds...seems like ALL the NUTS are out...I think we need to be week ahead or week after...if we made it AFTER school starts back, we'd have the place to ourselves... 8)...thinkin' out loud here...you guys chime in... :)...

Hey Guys!!
Been away a few days. I picked up the new V20 over the weekend (got off the road at 5:45am, just before rush hour traffic). It floats, it runs, it seems about as advertized, and still seems like a good deal.
(New pics in the Gallery - I need to get Photobucket so I can post them in the Forum.)
Labbi, Southport would be good. I agree their ramp is less crazy than Wrightville Beach. Again, I'm flexible. I need to get down to Wilmington in the next couple weeks.... I'll make a point to look around. Depending on time of year and weather we might think about Cape Lookout? I mean are we talking about a day fishing, or just racing around with our boats (and beer?). I was just thinking about Spanish Makeral (spelling?).
And I agree that we should avoid holiday weekends... not sure what I was thinking there.
And as far as Wellcraft bringing back the V20's, well I had a couple other boat owners/fisherman (unfamiliar with the V20's) come up to me at the marina in NJ and comment that my cockpit seems bigger than those on their 24ft Walk-arounds. I really think these are great boats; for fishing and diving.
I still think we don't have to get too formal with this thing. We could just have a few regional get-togethers depending on who's located where that wants to do this sort of thing.
Hey!! What about a V-20 meeting in Florida during Bug (Spiney Lobster) Open Sportsman season? There you go, good boats, lobsters, and beer. I hate to sound like a TV commercial, but it really DOESN'T get any better than that.
The new (old) Chevy did a great job towing the boat down from NJ (1st trip that long pulling a load that big), didn't do nearly as bad on gas as I thought either. I can see making some more roadtrips with this thing.
