Just got of the phone with my buddy. We are heading to Morehead NC in less than 2 weeks to fish aboard the Blacksmoke which is a privately owned 52ft Hatteras convertible.
Leaving on Tuesday evening May 9th. We won't head offshore until Thursday morning (weather permitting) but we'll have a 21ft CC to keep us happy on Wednesday inshore. Hopefully we'll catch plenty of blues and spanish....saving a few big spanish as marlin baits of course ;)
I'm pumped up!! Here's a pic I snapped on a trip aboard Blacksmoke 2 years ago when we caught gaffer mahi and some wahoo. We had 13 guys on board that day and 13 cases of beer. By EOD it was all gone and the captain didn't even drink :-/. By the way, it was a bachelor party for the guy on the left without the shirt:

Hey man, if I knew you were gonna be there I'd say come on and go fish with us Thursday and/or Friday ;) There will probably be room cause I think alot of our friends are not gonna be able to get off work.
Big Rock - I don't think Blacksmoke fished last year's tourny, but I think they did a couple years ago.
I know the 6 owners are tired of never ending maintenance and docking fees and the boat has been for sale for about a year or so now. This could potentially be the 2nd and last time I get to fish on that boat :'(
A few details that might interest you about Blacksmoke:
She's I think a 1978 or 1979 model. She sank in a cane back in the the 80's at Wrightsville. Back then she was a 48ft. They lifted her out, add 4 feet to the back deck and breathed new life into her and put her back on the water. She's got all of the groovy chick boat accessories like heat, ac, generator, icemaker in a huge transom fishbox.

You all should have a good time as long as its not blowing like today. I had to turn back in my wellcraft 25 this morning after about an hour of holding on ... They are also catching an occasional wahoo now days along with the other fishies..If you wait until august you will be able to get some of the same fish right out at the sea buoy in a V-20 and not have to run 40 miles..frank

Frank, yes I can't wait till warm water comes in close so I can hit up some good fishin in my V21.
Skools, I'm not sure - I think he must have it docked in Morehead somewhere. I know he's had it at Wrightsville in the past. Its been all over. The past 2 winters its been at Oregon Inlet fishing center.
When I find out I'll let you know.

I'll settle for 1/2 as good as you did over the weekend ;) I'm just praying for the wind to lay down good enough for us to fish.
