anyone seen the 1979 v20 i/o for sale in south jersey.i/o is supposed to be a 350 chevy with a omc outdrive just rebuilt.raw water cooled, never had risers done as far as current owner knows. can these be converted to fresh water cooled. and how were these omc drives. its on ebay at $1900 right now

yea saw it skools out , you maybe didn't see my response on the other post when you mentioned it, love the price but don't want another low transom boat like that one

franco you see above post , got any opinions on year and set up on that boat, and did you convert yours to fresh water cooling, do you know what is involved in doing it

Hey Willy,
I like the later model V20's because they have a full liner inside. Check the gallery. I don't know to much about the OMC outdrive systems, I'm a Volvo/Penta guy.
Here is a couple of links that can answer the FWC conversion kits and benefits. I haven't decided if I'm gonna add it, my original engine lasted 20 years and the manifolds and risers lasted 17 years - with good care.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think some of the older hulls have a 20" transom ( outboards ) I would want a 25" transom for sure!!!

thanks franco appreciate it, when you say full liner and later model what year forward are we talking about. and you said it lasted 17 yrs with original manifolds. wow , everone i know who has had them said they were lucky with 3 yrs.

I flush the heck out of mine everytime I use it, it's a trailer boat. I added a flush kit from perko - makes it really simple. Plus I have started to use a chemical treatment to inhibit corrosion. You better bring a fat *** check book once the hard top is on!!!

all right lets skip the hard top, only fat asses i got are sitting in my ford truck. as a matter of fact you better just get into maintenance mode now , fish a little bit , relax , and put new bearings in that trailer cause jersey is a heap of towing
